How much HP is that > Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Jul 30, 2008 The way I know it as is whp is obtained through a dynojet/mustang style dyno in which the vehicle is rolled on to the dyno and the reading is through the wheels . Hp is with the wheels off measuring from the wheel hubs. Typically they say to figure your whp if you have your hp reading the whp will be 15% less thats a rough estimate from what I have learned on here and reading around. Id probably wait till some else comments but thats how ive always thought of whp and hp. WHP http://www.advancedautomotivedevelopments.com/images/dynojet_rolling_raod_tvr.jpg HP http://www.ecutek.com.au/images/DynoGraphs/M-power-car-on-dyna-pack-hub-dyno-600.jpg #3 · Jul 30, 2008 Depends on your drivetrain loss. Its around 10-15%. Just go and dyno the car. I hate playing with numbers. There are so many factors and moving parts to consider. #4 · Jul 30, 2008 I always thought HP is calculated at flywheel and not the hubs? #6 · Jul 30, 2008 Yes, thats correct 0 Reply #5 · Jul 30, 2008 Its dynapack dyno thats why. It measures power generated from the hub of the wheel, and outputs the power generated at the wheels based on a mathematical calculation. A useful formula to calculate peak HP: HP = ( Torque x RPM ) / 5252 #7 · Jul 30, 2008 So what is the reading at the hub considered ? They are right hp is measured at the flywheel but how would you measure it ? Most performance shops I know of only have a dynojet/dynapack to give you a power rating. http://images.highperformancepontia...pontiac.com/tech/hppp_0712_32_z+small_bore_pontiac_engine_build+engine_dyno.jpg #8 · Jul 30, 2008 that is at the flywheel Show more replies 0 Reply #10 · Jul 30, 2008 He was referring to the picture you posted, which is of an Engine dyno. The flywheel is bolted down and the power is calculated right there, hence "at the flywheel" These numbers are higher for the obvious reason that no power is lost through any sort of drivetrain, the motor is literally bolted to a machine that calculates its power output #11 · Jul 30, 2008 yeah thats what i figured but just wanted to make sure . So what is the power rating provided by the dynapack ? #12 · Jul 30, 2008 Oh boy, Someone needs to write a mini how-to. WHP,BHP, dyno hp measurents etc. Seems like people do pissing contests with numbers :) Insert Quotes Post Reply
