  1. This post was very interesting to me because I know many people who cannot even go out and drink because the next day they get such bad headaches and can’t do anything but lay in bed. I found it so interesting that hangovers could actually be genetic, I never even thought of that as a specific gene. Its always been interesting to me though if hangovers do get worse with age. Hangovers that become worse are due to body fat, hormonal changes and aging. My parents don’t recover as easily as my sister would to drink, even if it’s a lot less.

  2. I was totally unaware that not getting hangovers could be a genetic thing. I’m thoroughly intrigued by the theory that perhaps drinking water in between drinks or consuming Gatorade or other drinks high in electrolytes may not be the only factors in avoiding/curing a hangover. Here’s a scientific explanation as to why Gatorade seems to help hangover victims

  4. I really found this interesting. You have a wonderful take on the whole topic and your evidence to prove your argument is great. Its interesting to learn about the twin and genetic studies done, I would however, suggest including other demographics as well, are women more likely to experience hangovers than men? Are hangovers frequent with age? I found an article, (http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/your-complete-guide-to-the-science-of-hangovers-180948074/?no-ist) that describes other factors involved in who experiences more hangovers readily. It may be interesting to include the age of the drinker, and if they may experience less hangovers than younger children and why, this article explains that (http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2013-09/ace-odm090513.php). Overall awesome topic, it was well written.

  5. When you’re too drunk people think it’s best to sleep it off, but apparently it is bad to go to sleep drunk. Research from the magazine Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research presented that when drinking before sleeping, you’re more likely to wake up during the night and may not feel as rested following your sleep. “517 participants who were tested in 38 sleep laboratory experiments. The volunteers drank varying amounts of alcohol, ranging from a low of one to two drinks, a moderate amount of two to four drinks, to a high of four or more drinks. ” according to (http://healthland.time.com/2013/02/08/sleeping-it-off-how-alcohol-affects-sleep-quality/). So beware next time you try to just “sleep the drunkness off”

  6. Wow, I never knew genes could factor into hangovers and that makes so much sense. Your blog is so interesting and something I actually wanted to read. When I went to Mexico last summer and we were at the resort my family did lots of (Legal) drinking! I noticed how easily I can get out of bed and so do my parents. None of us stick with a hangover in the morning and we can all wake up and go about our days. It’s funny to me though because my older brother can not move from bed the morning after. But like you said in your last paragraph, it may be for the best that he DOES feel hangovers.

  7. I have a friend who is like this, always drinking a lot, and waking up the next day feeling as though nothing happened. It was always frustrating to me waking up with a headache and he would wake up ready to take on the day. Do you think that the type of alcohol consumed plays a large role in this? In other words, do certain types of alcoholic drinks lead to worse hangovers. Apparently Brandy and sugary drinks are drinks you should avoid the night before your 8 a.m class. http://www.11points.com/Food-Drink/11_Alcoholic_Drinks,_Ranked_By_Hangover_Severity
