Camorra C Hi, i have a 2004 E46 318i, engine code N46B20A, engine oil Motul X-cess 5w40 LL-98 if matters, and few weeks ago 'Check Engine' appears, i check with INPA and got this errors: 2A70- Error curent plausibility; 2A6B- VVT Emergency; 2A63- VVT Actuator monitoring; 29E7- LR - Adaptation Additive PerTime (BANK1); 2D0F- Hot Film Air Mass Meter; 2A5D- VVT Sensor Plausibility; 2F9E- Thermical Oil Level Sensor; 2A67- VVT Internal Fault; After delete the errors, the 2A5D & 2A67 stay there, before when i get in VVT setting in INPA i can adjust the VVT motor, but now INPA pop-up a error saying that are some problems on VVT system, however the engine runs smooth, fuel consumption normal, some times rev drops. I want to change the VVT motor after this code 11377548387 and eccentric shaft sensor i found oil in it, code 11377527016. If someone can advise me otherway, i don't want to change parts for nothing. Thank for reading and sorry for my english. #1 · Jul 18, 2017 Hi, i have a 2004 E46 318i, engine code N46B20A, engine oil Motul X-cess 5w40 LL-98 if matters, and few weeks ago 'Check Engine' appears, i check with INPA and got this errors: 2A70- Error curent plausibility; 2A6B- VVT Emergency; 2A63- VVT Actuator monitoring; 29E7- LR - Adaptation Additive PerTime (BANK1); 2D0F- Hot Film Air Mass Meter; 2A5D- VVT Sensor Plausibility; 2F9E- Thermical Oil Level Sensor; 2A67- VVT Internal Fault; After delete the errors, the 2A5D & 2A67 stay there, before when i get in VVT setting in INPA i can adjust the VVT motor, but now INPA pop-up a error saying that are some problems on VVT system, however the engine runs smooth, fuel consumption normal, some times rev drops. Give the valvetronic servomotor a few taps with a hammer, it may be seized and this can help free it up. Clear the codes, cross your fingers and give it a run, then recheck for codes. #3 · Jul 19, 2017 (Edited) The sensor is clean, i cleaned a month ago, from then no oil in it, but errors still persist. The funny thing is, the engine runs ok, no limitation in revs or speed like others vvt owners. I will change eventually vvt servomotor and the sensor, if errors still persist. #4 · Jul 19, 2017 It's a bit misleading the way bmw refer to these parts as vvt there not actually anything to do with the variable valve timing, bmw call that 'vanos', these parts are the valvetronics which alter the valve height not the timing. The valvetronics are not essential for the engine to run properly that's why you wont really notice any running problems when they fail. Did you check at the ecu for any oil and give the motor a tap or two? #5 · Jul 19, 2017 I don't know where the ecu is, today i'l try to tap the motor. I don't use the car anymore because i'm afraid i will damage something. 0 Reply #6 · Jul 20, 2017 The ecu is in a box with a black lid in the far right corner of the engine bay. #7 · Jul 21, 2017 I tap the motor and some errors don't appear anymore, i'm going to drive more and see if what errors occurs, i just buyed today a vvt motor just in case. Errors wich still persist 2a59, 2a5d and 2a5b, sometimes just random even if the engine is off, errors appear. #8 · Jul 21, 2017 All those codes point to the eccentric shaft sensor, easy enough job to change it. I'd check the ecu connector for any oil just to be sure , if that's clean, change the eccentric shaft sensor. #9 · Aug 2, 2017 The vvt motor broken today, i will replace it. The ecu is clean, eccentric is clean. On tester 10 errors all about vvt motor. I will change the engine oil from Motul X-cess 8100 to Aral High Tronic 5w40 wich i use in another car for 5 years and no problems with it, Motul wasn't so good after all. Thanks for helping me. I will post after i replace the thing. #10 · Aug 2, 2017 I really think the issue is with the eccentricshaft sensor. Ideally you want a LL04 spec oil (depending on where 'everywhere' is) lol Good luck with it. #11 · Aug 3, 2017 The vvt motor is not working anymore, testing and fail, engine revs drops too much then go up and so on, the car have lost power it's like a drove my other 60hp car not a 143hp car. #12 · Aug 4, 2017 You could try unplugging the servomotor and the sensor, clear the codes and try running it, it might smooth things out so you could actually drive it till you get things sorted.
