Hello everyone I need help with my Bmw e46 2002, it’s a 318ci and it uses n42 engine. Recently it had oil leaks, so after investigating it I realised it was from damages plug pipes, so I open the engine and changed them. I was able to close it and the vehicle was running smoothly with no problem, until 3 days later when it failed on the road and shud down while I was driving. I towed the car home and diagonised it, if has 3 fault codes on the DME. 1. 2850 variable valve gear: guide sensor 2. 2852 variable valve gear: reference sensor 3. Variable valve gear: learning stop necessary. The car can’t start only cranks, I have investigated the wiring they are okay, crankshaft sensor is fine, the only weird thing I found is that it does not produce spark, fuel components are all good. I’d go to www.newtis.info and enter the last 7 characters of your car’s vehicle identification number. Hit enter and bookmark the page. newtis is BMW’s official technical information system. It’s free. There should be steps to check the sensor. It may require tools and/or software you won’t likely have. Insert Quotes Post Reply
