PROCEDURE TIME STEPS/CONTENTS TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ACTIVITIES Pictures ] s 5’ @ WARM-UP Guessing pictures -Stick some pictures of books, going fishing, playing chess, swimming -Ask students to speak out their thought about the pictures -Lead students to the topic -Look at the pictures -Answer the questions -Present the ideas 10’ @ VOCABULARY Ígnorantly(adv): ngu dốt (synonym) Býgone(a): cũ kỹ qua rồi (antonym) Gigántic(a): khổng lồ, kếch xù (picture) Contínually (adv): liên tục, đều đều (situation) * Discussion - Elicit the words and follow the steps for presenting vocabulary -Ask students to repeat chorally, individually -Guide students -Call students to speak out -Ask students to repeat -Guess - Repeat - Copy - Work in pairs -Present -Repeat 10’ PRE – LISTENING 1. Write down three benefits from reading books - Books help to widen our knowledge - Books give us valuable experience - Books are good sources of information - Books make our life better 2. Listen and repeat * Guessing the main idea T: Can you guess what the listening text is about? S: Maybe about reading books, magazines and their benefits - Give instructions - Check - Give instructions - Ask - Group work - Compare - Listen and repeat - Answer the questions 10’ WHILE-LISTENING *Task 1/ p150 keys: 1.T 5T 2F 6T 3F 7T 4F 8F -Ask students to read the sentences in 3 minutes -Turn on the cassette 3 times -Check and correct -Read carefully -Listen and decide(T/F) -Share the answers with the partner - Take notes *Task 2/p150 Answer keys: 1.wonderful 2.disease 3.jungle 4.certainly 5.ignorantly -Ask sts to read the passage 3 times ( 2’ ) -Turn on the cassette 3 times -Check and correct - Read -Listen and fill in the blanks - Take notes 10’ POST-LISTENING Talking about the disadvantages of over – reading +harm for eyes ( near-sighted) + bad behaviour if you read unselected books + Weak body( not move ) + Not having enough time for studying HOMEWORK Write about the disadvantages of over – reading in not more than 80 words -Give the instructions -Give some cues: - Ask sts to discuss -Ask sts to present their thought - Listen - Take notes - discuss in groups - present
