Bluetooth audio for W210 I know it's possible to replace my startac phone in my W210 with a V60 bluetooth puck, but can I use the V60 bluetooth puck to do some A2DP audio streaming from an A2DP-capable device (like my phone)? Alternately, can I remove the CD changer in the trunk and attach a bluetooth module to it and stream music that way? __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K |

I did find this: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/seetheaccessory/mbr-100?cc=us&lc=en but I'd rather have a solution that either replaced my CD changer with a bluetooth receiver, or have a bluetooth receiver in behind the COMAND head unit and tap it into some of the power cables behind there so it turns on when I turn the car on. Any suggestions, anyone? __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K |

Yes, I have the integrated phone in the arm rest between the seats. I've not bought the V60 cradle + Bluetooth puck yet, but I need to do it soon (new hands-free cellphone law coming into effect in July here). __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K |

The bluetooth MB puck is not A2DP compatible. You can of course, replace your CD changer with a DB2 Ipod controller and use a Ipod in place of your changer. __________________ 1993 500E http://2phast.com/500e/500e-sig.jpg |

That would mean buying an iPod - I'd rather stream music from my cellphone and store it on it's expandable M2 slot rather than carrying several different electronic devices around. __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K Last edited by smharr4; 06-18-2008 at 09:02 PM. |

I have an Alpine head unit and Alpine bluetooth adapter mounted behind it which is on whenever the head unit is on. It streams audio beautifully from my Wankberry. __________________ I never go far without a little Big Star 1994 E500 199/Gray 82k 84 300D (Salty) Orient Red/Palomino 141k 88 300CE (Ersatzhammer) 904/Java 163k -- Turbo Technics twin turbo kit, AMG Gen I body kit, Sportline steering box and steering wheel, Sportline/Eibach /Bilstein Sport/500E suspension, Quaife LSD in 210 mm diff case, Silver Arrow brakes. 88 300CE Brabus 3.6 199 on Black 44k |

I think that plugging the MBR-100 into the AUX connector in the glovebox is going to be the best solution. __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K |

Update? So Steven, what did you end up doing? I just bought a 2002 E320 and am looking at bluetooth/auxillary options. I did use the MBR100 bluetooth streaming for a while, but that wouldn't allow me to place/receive calls with the phone's speaker system. Plus, using bluetooth drained the phone's battery super-quickly. I have a Nexus One these days, that has the more sensible 3.5mm jack on top that I can just hook into the aux port in the glove box, but that leaves wires dangling everywhere (especially if I want to charge up the phone too) and it doesn't give me a hands-free option. I have looked at the pin out for the Motorola Timeport phones (http://pinouts.ru/CellularPhones-A-N/motorola_v388_pinout.shtml) and I'm wondering what form the audio data takes (i.e. is it encoded somehow, or can you connect it to a set of speakers directly.) Could a device like the Samsung WEP870 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875982275) that is both a bluetooth stereo headset and phone headset be hacked together to provide everything together? Now that my car's out of it's extended warranty, I might have another go... I wanted to add a USB charging socket anyway. __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K |

I see. From the research I've done there's just not a very good solution to merge new tech with old hardware. I'm thinking I may just buy a good after market head unit with Bluetooth since I don't have Comand. I wonder if it's possible to hardwire the charger with USB connector to the system and run the cable into the center console. Probably a phone mount has that capabililty. Also, where's the Aux. port in the glove box (dash box I'm assuming) and do you like the Comand system? I've seen a few on Ebay but am not sure it would be worth the conversion. Thanks! __________________ Deuce '02 CLK430 (Nightwing) 54K '11 ML350 109K '21 VW Atlas (Wife's Rocket) '94 Bronco XLT (Son 1) '06 Honda Odyssey 180K (Sold) '02 E320 151K (Sold) '96 E300D (RIP Riggo - 12/16/2010) 198K '03 Honda Odyssey 34K (Sold) '95 E300D 145K (Sold) '01 Mazda Tribute 19K (Sold) |

Probably a phone mount has that capabililty. | This is what I did in my 300E - fitted a head unit with bluetooth. It came from Crutchfields, they'll set you up with pretty much everything you need. And no, there's no good way to merge the older tech with the newer stuff. Plus the newer stuff (like the nexus one) only has power going through the connector on the bottom while the connector in the console has power, audio, and all sorts of other good stuff so you'd be resorting to even more hacking to get things to Just Work. I have heard of iPod connectors that plug into the CAN bus in place of the CD changer, I wonder if hacking away at that would be the way to go. Even getting just power would be a start, it should be pretty easy to find a +5v line for the USB connector that's live when the ignition is turned to 'ON' in the myriad of cables in the centre console. I've seen DIYs and retro-fit kits for Becker units to add an AUX port onto them. For me, it's on the inside of the glove box, left side and towards the upper back corner. If you have stuff in there, you'll almost certainly need a 90 degree 3.5mm connector to avoid destroying your cable __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K |

Must be a Comand option. I checked in mine and no AUX port. No biggie. There are some good looking HU's at Crutchfield that have adapters for the stearing wheal controls. Hopefully I wouldn't loose much functionality with the swap. __________________ Deuce '02 CLK430 (Nightwing) 54K '11 ML350 109K '21 VW Atlas (Wife's Rocket) '94 Bronco XLT (Son 1) '06 Honda Odyssey 180K (Sold) '02 E320 151K (Sold) '96 E300D (RIP Riggo - 12/16/2010) 198K '03 Honda Odyssey 34K (Sold) '95 E300D 145K (Sold) '01 Mazda Tribute 19K (Sold) |

No Mercedes, not even 2011s, provide music transfer to the system via Bluetooth. It's solely telephone. __________________ Kent Christensen Albuquerque '07 GL320CDI, '10 CL550. '01 Porsche Boxster Two BMW motorcycles |

The audio quality of phone calls was pretty good though. Is there absolutely no way to fool COMAND into playing audio over the phone audio out? The pin out for the V60 connector has phone audio out and in. __________________ -- Steven Harrison 1993 300E2.8 - 196K 2001 E320 4MATIC - 86K |
