I really like the clips of the DC-2 that I've heard, but I think it would be nice to dial in even more subtle shades of chorus. On the other hand, digital effects always scare me a little, and I'm afraid that the DC-3 may sound sterile or digital to me. Can anyone recommend one of these pedals over the other? Thanks! Jjordanl

Click to expand...Back in my middle school days I saw an atmospheric band at some church in Orange County called Flowertown, and I remember their lefty guitarist Rick Joyce using a silver Ibanez, burying it and his flange-tinged distortion box in a ton of reverb...Which led me to get close to the stage to see what in the world he was doing, and what he as using(pedals were just funny boxes to me back then^^). I asked a friend of the band what that whole swilring mess was all about and sure enough he told me Rick's main tonal modulator was a "Boss Dimension C"...which still didn't mean much, of course. I have since never been able to try one on for size. Looking back now (I bootlegged the show onto cassette)his weird sound throughout the whole gig certainly had a Holy Grail Flerb-like sound, and was VERY spacy. He now is doing catchy 1980s-ish PeterMurphy-ish/gothy stuff (same silver Ibanez, too) and I wouldn't be surprised if the DC-2 is still an important part of their sound.... www.thelastdance.com Disclaimer: Just in case you're getting suspicious about dubious promo namedropping, look at their pictures and sigh for me: you'll know I have no personal affiliation with them. Well, I guess both of us like to wear black, but I tend to go a tad more conservative on the makeup

Hundreds of tracks with the DC2 Maybe two tracks with the DC3 before I gave it to some kid that wanted a chorus pedal. THe best bang for the buck right now is the Line 6 Space chorus for about 120 bucks. Trust me, in Nashville you gotta have a good chorus pedal so I have tried em all. If you can find a DC2 priced right then get it Most of the ones I am seeing these days are going for 150 and up. I would get the line6 OR the line 6 MOdulation Modeler. That is what I replaced my DC2 with and have never looked back. JMHOjboyle

I don't know if it's an urban legend or the truth, but they've all been taken out of circulation by the professional players here; they're pretty much pedal board staples for the stage and studio guys here--at least they were for years, anyway. I do know for a fact that you cannot come by either the DC-2 or the CS-2 in this town anymore by way of a music store or pawn shop; furthermore, if you find a private party who'll sell either pedal to you, I can guarantee you won't be paying a bargain price for it. Not that I looked that hard, suddenly one day I had one on my hands and bought without a blink! Got a CS-1 and CS-2 as well, plus a MIJ CE-2.....and a few other nice Boss pedals from that area...I like the simple design and useful sounds....don't fancy the new wave of boutique much, have always made modifications for as long as I remember to pedals, but these guys I leave alone, except for the CS-1 that I made louder....my dad showed me a long time ago what resistor to change....he was an electrical engineer....had the bug ever since!klasaine

It's like a chours and phase shifter mixed in a good way. Pretty good faux Leslie on button four. Never tried a DC-3 so I can't compare the two.Zac

Joined Mar 30, 2003 Posts 535 Location TN I own both. The DC-3 is digital, but has a mix knob that makes it a nice pedal also. To me the DC-3 is more in the TC chorus clean hi-fi camp. WHen I think DC-3, I think Brent Mason's chorused tone on Alan Jackson's "Gone Country." I own a TC chorus also, and yes, I know it is analog. The DC-2 is the classic John Jorgenson swirly chorus sound that he used on the DRB and Hellecaster records. It was John's use of it that made it cool. Nobody used them in Nashville till they saw him use it. The other pedal he made cool in Nashville was the Boss VB-2 Vibrato.Twangasaurus
