                                    "વૃક્ષની આત્મકથા"

મારો જન્મ કેરીના બીજમાંથી થયો હતો. હું શાળાના મેદાનના ખૂણે આવેલું આંબાનું ઝાડ છું. આજે મારી ઉંમર બે દાયકાથી વધુ છે. હું મારા નાના મિત્રો, ફૂલો અને અન્ય નાના છોડ વચ્ચે રહું છું. આ જમીન પર, હું સૌથી ઊંચું અને જમીનની આ બાજુનું એકમાત્ર વૃક્ષ છું.

મારી પાસે લીલા પાંદડાવાળી ઘણી શાખાઓ છે. હું એવા ફળો લઉં છું જે ખૂબ જ મીઠી અને રસદાર હોય છે.

નાનપણમાં જ્યારે હું નાનો રોપા હતો ત્યારે શાળાના માળીએ મારી ખૂબ કાળજી લીધી. તે મને રોજ પાણી પીવડાવતો. ધીરે ધીરે, હું એક વિશાળ વૃક્ષ બની ગયો. ક્યારેક માળી કે ઘરકામનો સ્ટાફ અથવા તો બાળકો પણ અહીં આવીને પાકેલી અને ન પાકેલી કેરી તોડી લે છે.

હવે હું માળીની સંભાળ રાખું છું. જ્યારે તે થાકી જાય છે, ત્યારે તે મારી નીચે આરામ કરે છે. જ્યારે તે તેના પરિવાર માટે ઘરે કેરીઓ લે છે ત્યારે મને ખૂબ આનંદ થાય છે. બાળકો રમવા આવે છે અને મારા થડ પાછળ સંતાઈ જાય છે. તેઓને મારી રસદાર કેરીઓ ખૂબ ગમે છે. તેમને મારી આસપાસ રમતા જોઈને મને આનંદ થયો. જ્યારે તેઓ કેરીઓ મેળવવા માટે મારા પર પથ્થર ફેંકે છે ત્યારે મને પીડા થાય છે. મારું ફળ k તરીકે જાણીતું ફળોના રાજા તરીકે ઓળખાય છે. તે મીઠી અને સ્વાદિષ્ટ છે, સહેજ તીક્ષ્ણ સ્વાદ સાથે.
