sgtpepperaut Sensitive content, not recommended for those under 18 Show Content Image code present: C1140 already checked fuses 13 and 22 and they are ok. also reinitialized the sensor by turning lock to lock several times. tried to clear all codes with carsoft but it seems to be a "hard code". Light is on right away before even putting it in gear or stepping on the break so unfortunately its not the good old brake light switch from what i can tell. other infos: steering was out of alignment/off center could this have confused the yaw rate sensor? #1 · Mar 10, 2014 Sensitive content, not recommended for those under 18 Show Content Image code present: C1140 already checked fuses 13 and 22 and they are ok. also reinitialized the sensor by turning lock to lock several times. tried to clear all codes with carsoft but it seems to be a "hard code". #6 · Mar 10, 2014 I tested power and gnd last night and both were OK. Actually the Steering wheels sensor has power with IGN off as well, presumably so it does not lose its absolute reference. Problem was actually solved by centering the steering wheel performing a "manual" alignment and driving around for a couple of miles. I will get a proper alignment once I put the new tires on. @43SQD at some point you posted a pdf that stated that when the steering wheel is more than 6deg of center the logic gets confused because the steering wheel sensor angle does not match the yaw rate sensor output. From the computers point of view: “Your steering wheel is telling me you are making a left turn yet the yaw rate sensor is telling me you are not turning. Let me disable the ESP for you just to be safe” The remedy is to align the steering and then simply drive for a while so the computer receives “matching” signals again. This is a very complex error from an engineering point of view but the remedy if fortunately relatively simple and almost solves itself. Would have never arrived at a solution without that pdf! Thx I can’t find the pdf/service bulleting right now  but will post it here as soon as I do as reference for other people. Insert Quotes Post Reply
