I have custom rods built with carbon fiber handles, titanium guides the best money can buy and have north fork composite hm, and X-ray blanks, Phenix k2 blanks, and some point blank blanks and others. The closest to a conquest rod I have with same reels, line would a tossup between X-ray and the k2 on the high end | | Re: Can you build a rod as good as a NRX? This. The NRX uses three different types of guides. They chose the absolute best guide type, brand, and size for every area of the blank. None go that far. Loomis has rod building down to an art, with the NRX as the pinnacle. Eat. Sleep. Fish. | | Re: Can you build a rod as good as a NRX? A friend of mine built a rod for me with high end components. The blank was about the same quality of the NRX (?) and he used all titanium guides. He used a titanium reel seat. When he was done it was more than a new NRX with no labor included. Plus you have no warranty if you break it. With Loomis you have a $125 fee for NRX replacement. The LPC 400 blank is the lightest I think Judy and Tim have had in their line up. Most of their rods in the past have been pretty heavy duty rods and very durable. My wife fishes a NRX 822 DSR so I can really compare apples to apples. The NRX is lighter and more sensitive..(on spinning reel) My 400 blank is a casting set up for drop shots. And is WAY more sensitive than the exact blank on a spinning rod. Dont ask me how or why, but it is. The NRX is half recoil guides, and PT rods are full recoil guides. Which I tend to like. Being that I drop shot with a casting rod, it has been a long search for the perfect rod. The 400 form PT is it for me. Now if the NRX 822 was made in a casting version......lets just say that would be a real tough decision. www.mercurymarine.comwww.lftlures.com | | Re: Can you build a rod as good as a NRX?
