    Hello to all,

I have a HP Omen 15-ax250tx 2016 model. I have not got my motherboard replaced, but still the serial number and product number shown in the BIOS is different than the actual numbers behind the back of my laptop. I wanted to know if there's any software utility (DOS or something) or any other method to change the serial number and product number of my laptop.

Cannot change, but you can check with HP Support Assistant tool <I think that's the name> and see if it aligns with the BIOS.

First off, welcome to the forum!  You can use software to change the Serial number, but it usually requires writing to BIOS or a specific chip on your logic board with a clip-on reader like this.

Also just a side note, please don't create multiple posts about the exact same thing... All it does it make it more likely you'll get banned or people will ignore your posts.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Firstly, so sorry for creating multiple posts.

Secondly, yes I have checked with the HP Support Assistant App and it doesn't align with the serial number and product number shown in the BIOS.

I know that there are some softwares to change the serial number, but the articles/forums I found on the internet were many years old, so I don't know if the same tools(I found one known as "HP DMI") work for my laptop or not.

Actually I have been experiencing a black screen issue for which I think I'll have to reset my windows. So this mismatch came into my notice recently when I wanted to reset my laptop using the Recovery pendrive I had created 3 years ago when I had bought my laptop. But when I inserted the USB Pendrive into my laptop, it said that the serial no. and product no. of the Recovery Media is different from that of my System(laptop), although I had created that recovery media by connecting it to the same laptop that is being discussed here.

So bottomline, I need proper guidance for how do I change the serial no. and product no. that shows in my BIOS and will it also change what is stored in my EEPROM ?

Thing is they likely replaced the motherboard and stuff altogether during the repair, so your backup may not be good for it even if you managed to edit the serial # and product #. Sorry I dont know how to edit them myself, but I would call the backup a dud and go through another RMA instead
