#1 · Feb 23, 2004 I have some experience chiptuning pretty much all stateside euro cars, what is available for the T6 engine? What do people get from a chip? I am new to the T6 and want to learn more. thanks everyone. Most if not all of the after market upgrades that will probably be offered for the T6 will be in appearance, aerodynamics, suspension, and braking. Due to the space constraints, as you may already know, a GM sourced 4-speed tranny is mated to the T6 engine. The T6 engine maximum torque output uses, if memory serves me correctly, slightly more than 90% of the maximum torque rating for this tranny. A chip would consume this safety reserve and possibly make the T6 a tranny eater, so we may not see one developed. I understand from another thread that ipd is working on a chip for the 2.5T, which has more torque reserve in its Aisin 5-speed. Exhaust changes and free-flow filters maybe the only engine performance options available. You will see significant improvement in your T6 performance as the engine breaks in. Mine is a preppy, upperclass, stuck-up town. Basicly where I was raised. Now that I'm older I'm seeing a lot of those traits cme out and people reacting to them! Not to mention every other peron drives a Volvo!

He chips a lot of Volvos and might have more information regarding the T6 engine, I believe that upsolute does make a chip for the S80 T6, but as previously mentioned, the 4 speed tranny in the XC90 might be a limiting factor. #13 · Mar 1, 2004 Re: Chiptuning a XC90 T6 (NUFAN) Yeah, I know Bill, his is a distributor of mine, I am just trying to figure out more info on the XC90 and chiptuning. I like to have the most amount of power safely possible. Well the chip is in and I am definetly happy! It pulls very quick from 4k on and now downshifts to 2nd really pull all throughout. . Can you reprogram the Transmission Control Unit that quick, I think Sweden could use someone speedy like you to help them out.

Chips do sometime reveal weaker parts within a system, sometimes boost sensors or limitors are hit and cause problems. thats what I was looking for.... I obviously checked with Austria before doing the mod. They have done many Euro models (all engines) and we are starting to do some US now, and of course mine! I think the hesitation comes from not many tuners out there other than the typical mail aways...its nice to have a face

If you are interested, I can upgrade your ECU with MTE's (iPd for the U.S.) program. I will start doing those at our store some time by the end of the week. You are not that far from us, we are in West Chester, PA. Let me know if you are interested. Don't expect HUGE gains out of V8 ECU upgrade. MTE/TME are working on a supercharger kit which how you will get this V8 cooking.
