After fitting we BLEED the cylinder, then my pedal became hard! I still can change my gear no problems. My question is do I really need to change the CLUTCH KIT & FLYWHEEL? The engineer told me to buy new CLUTCH KIT with Flywheel VW-Original parts £862 including VAT. The labour would cost me 8 hours £110 per hour by VW. Before changing Clutch cylinder my pedal was EASY to PUSH. I still can change my gear, The only thing is my CLUTCH PEDAL became HARD? #9 · Jan 23, 2012 (Edited) Hi, I have been messing around for many years with the T4 pedalbox, IMHO the bolt on bracket mentioned is the best insurance you can buy! But it really is of any use as insurance if it is fitted to an undamaged pedal box. Again IMHO it is only postponing the inevitable failure if it is fitted to an already damaged pedal box. The alignment of the clutch master cylinder is absolutely critical relative to the clutch pedal on these pedal boxes, so much so that I always mount the pedalbox in an alignment jig to weld the reinforcement plates into my pedalboxes! The clutch hydraulics can get air into it if you let the brake fluid level drop too low ( the brake system and clutch system share the same reservoir! ) Hey guys give this bloke a chance. There are many reasons for not having perfect grammar, there but for the grace of god go I!!! Cheers Trev. #10 · Jan 23, 2012 A) Tell the vw engineer to gfhs B) ask on here for a trusted local garage (nonvw) in your area, call them, drive the van to them for a diagnostic, then ask for a price labor only, or get them to price up the job parts a labor. If its a replacement Clutch kit and CSC make sure the bearing is also in the kit. Ring around for a few quotes now you know whats needed! C) ring brickworks, gsf or euro car parts and ask for 1) Choose a clutch kit ( single or dual mass) dual is probably best for a standard van with no engine modifications 2) ask for a CSC - Concentric Slave Cylinder 3) make sure the kit has the clutch bearing included if not get one You now know how much the parts cost in vat! Get labor quotes etc ring around and you will find some are hungry for business and cheap. Make a call on who you trust and get it done. This forum ain't going to fix it for you.. Examples for a 102bhp silver tdi http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?pa...p?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1253&category_id=138 And these http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?pa...p?page=shop.product_details&category_id=152&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1254 Or call gsfcarparts for a clutch kit 350 + vat "a dual mass version", and get a Concentric Slave Cylinder and bearing that's more like 500 for parts inc vat. Then looking at a further x amount depending upon the garage, ou could be paying half of what vw quoted you! Thats if you need I done! #12 · Jan 24, 2012 Thanks mate for your advise. So now I need to buy: 1. Flywheel 2. Clutch Kit 3. Bearing 4. Clutch slave Cylinder 5. Clutch master Cylender I am trying to buy whole things, I am checking on internet.... thanks guys... 0 Reply #11 · Jan 24, 2012 Thanks Trev. I have fitted bracket on broken pedal housing. But no movement any more. Trev why clutch pedal became hard? is that really to do with CLUTCH KIT? #15 · Jan 24, 2012 Hi, The pedal could be fouling the master cylinder, this would make the pedal very stiff! If you slacken the two bolts that secure the master cylinder to the pedalbox, and make sure that the steel rod is not touching the aluminium tube at any point in the pedals movement, also make sure the pedal freely passes the master cylinder. Where in the country are you? Cheers Trev. 0 Reply #13 · Jan 24, 2012 Get it looked at by someone else for another opinon first, before spending your cash! #14 · Jan 24, 2012 I've just changed my pedal box for one supplied by wind welder and I highly recommend his service. Have you checked that the assist spring is in place at the top of the pedal? (there should be 2 springs attached to the clutch pedal; the one that pulls it up and also one right at the top that falls out when the pedal box breaks). Also, if the clutch master cylinder is not perfectly lined up with the pedal, it can be very hard to press the pedal down. Make sure the metal rod that goes into the master cylinder stays central to the tube that it goes into when the pedal is pressed. The two mounting bolts that secure the master cylinder can be loosened to re-adjust it's alignment if necessary. Good luck and if you need a garage, shop around for one you can trust #16 · Jan 25, 2012 Hello Guys!!!
