#1 · Jun 2, 2017 I have a 2011 TDI Sportwagon 6MT Over the last few days I've noticed the clutch sticking down more and more, on the way to work today it would barely disengaged the clutch when depressed, went to go out for lunch and it went all the way to the floor. so I cracked the bleeder and pumped it up a few times, fluid came out. The reserviour is half full, But VERY dirty. Only reason I think its the master over the slave is because of the color of the fluid, how the clutch was "sticking", and how the clutch never seemed to "slip" more as it would with fluid getting on it from a leaking slave cylinder. I haven't seen any fluid on the ground under my car, but I do have a splash guard that may be soaking up some of the fluid. Any suggestions? I ordered a Master from AAP, but wont purchase it or install till I'm 100%. Should I disconnect the line and put my thumb over it and see if there's pressure coming from the master? I had very little resistance in the clutch pedal and it would stick near the floor sometimes. I replaced the master and bleeder first, since the slave is internal, but it still ended up being the slave. No fluid leaks at all from it. When I took it out, there were no signs of failure. It was failed in a way that was letting air in but not leaking fluid. I wouldn't throw away the option of the slave so easily. If its sticking near the floor, I would say its the slave. #3 · Jun 9, 2017 Update: I pulled the master cylinder, and took it apart. it was right full of black, thick greasy looking material. I replaced the master cylinder, It worked for a day with no issues, no leaks and felt normal. put 40 miles on it without any signs of leaks. This morning I went to drive to work just to push the clutch to the floor and have it stick to the floor again :banghead: Popped the hood to find the reservoir is low, but no leaks at first glance. Any time I vacuum bleed the clutch I get tiny bubbles of air, is that the OEM bleeder leaking a bit because its open? or is that a sign of a failing slave? Definitely slave? or am I a fool and should check something else first. #4 · Jun 12, 2017 just thinking out loud but i thought i have read about seals around fittings and vacuum bleeding can create issues with bubbles? i have never driven your car so not sure if incomplete bleeding might lead to your issues? i have been using a pressure active bleeder system as of late and i like it so far.
