Jaymarks J My 2009 jetta tdi passanger rear door wont lock anymore. After researching this, I see it is a very common problem. Two other problems started at the same time. The lock/unlock buttons on the same door don't work either. I would think that if the actuator in the door was bad, that the buttons would still work and lock/unlock the rest of the doors. The door locks and buttons on the other 3 doors are all fine. The last problem is with the door lock indicator lights. They only light up on the other rear door and not the other 3 doors. This seems really strange to me. Any idea what can cause all these symptoms or do I have multiple problems. #1 · Dec 8, 2014 My 2009 jetta tdi passanger rear door wont lock anymore. Could have been a random failure. #3 · Dec 11, 2014 The door lock actuator/motor is causing all the symptoms. If I manually lock the door and then lock all the doors, all the indicators light up. The rear door buttons only lock/unlock that door, I thought they locked/unlocked all doors. The way the indicator lights function with one door not locking doesn't make sense to me? It does unlock every time, wont lock but I can hear it trying to lock sometimes. I will replace the actuator. #4 · Dec 15, 2014 I replaced the actuator with a new one from ECS Tuning. It is a vw part for $108 shipped. It works fine but the spring tension is less than the original. I read other posts where dealers have replaced these with the same result. I actually installed the cable slightly tighter than it was to try to help but the door just opens with less pull on the handle.Replacement springis weaker than factory original. This part looked identical to original but I didn't compare springs before I put the new one in. Maybe I should have bought the $45 Chinese one, you never know what your getting anyway. #5 · Apr 21, 2015 (Edited) I have a 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI and was also experiencing door lock problems on the passenger front and rear doors. I am the only user of this vehicle so the passenger doors rarely get opened. Here's what I did to make them work again...remember. keep it simple at first.....The interior frames (door shells) have rubber access plugs just above the door latching mechanisms. I pried the plugs out and looked into the holes. I saw plastic tipped levers that are used to lock the doors manually in case of an electrical failure. These levers are spring loaded so I sprayed some WD40 on them and their pivoting shafts. I then stuck a 3/8" socket wrench extension into the holes holding gentle pressure against the levers and pulled open the interior door handles at the same time creating a back and forth motion working the lube into the mechanisms. After a minute or two of this on each door, they all now open and lock electrically as they should. This is probably a common problem on vehicles with only one regular occupant. The owners manual has a pic of the access plugs and their location on page 329..... hope this helps- this drove me crazy for months !..... Insert Quotes Post Reply
