tunedxc60 said: Long story short, not ready for prime time. I think these t6/t8 motors will never be good candidates for non factory tuning due to the way the torque management is controlled to mix the turbo/super chargers and electric motor (on the t8). Click to expand...
pocholin said: As tunedxc60 said, the power delivery is not smooth, you can feel it surging on higher gears, like 4th, 5th and so on. However, it does the trick and wakes the engine up. I also agree that it doesn't feel like it produce as much power as claimed but it is still a noticeable amount of power increase. But, please, continue for my entertainment. #6 · Jul 21, 2019 Let me broaden my question for simple, additive (on point) thoughts: With Polestar tuning in house now, have tuners lost their interest in Volvo? Other than Heico, none seem to be following Volvo very closely... RICA has a little interest, but Evolve and Elevate have exited, IPD/Viva (not really their thing), no specialist like VW's APR,... Could it be that a factory Polestar optimization is about as good as it gets regarding Stage I? Heico at 340 hp, RICA at 339 hp and Polestar at 330 hp is essentially a push. Pre-Polestar, I flashed my R (with Evolve tuning) but that was a very robust underlying setup. How do the piggybacks fit in and do they have any staying power? Seems like an ECU replacement or flash isn't relevant any longer?? Or will there become tuners in the future (as integrated with Volvo as Evolve was), or does Polestar essentially block that? #7 · Jul 21, 2019 I'd love to see an affordable ECU tune for the T8 because P* isn't available in the US market (T5/T6 only). I contacted RICA a while back and they indicated the challenge is developing a softloader that can crack the ECU's security. HEICO has done it, but a non-proprietary solution doesn't exist yet. That said, the CPA/RaceChip/etc piggybacks are essentially "electronic boost controllers". They only alter the MAP and TMAP sensor values, leaving it to the ECU to constantly adapt to O2 and knock sensor feedback for fuel adjustment. It's a terrible solution that leans out the AF ratio, which results in surging, hesitation, etc as folks have mentioned. Insert Quotes Post Reply
