2020: I-LAND[]

On June 1, 2020, Daniel was introduced as a participant in the CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment's then upcoming survival show I-LAND.[1] On the first episode, he performed "Any Song" by Zico, along with EJ, and was able to enter "I-LAND".[2] Because of an average score of 59, half of the I-LANDER team had to be sent to "Ground" in the third episode. Daniel was the second one to be sent as he received 11 votes.[3] On the seventh episode, he ranked second based on the global votes and was able to move onto Part 2 and become one of the final 12[4] but did not make it into the final group.
