• it’s clearly obvious that chongyun dislikes hu tao. she’s a nightmare to be with considering how much she enjoys teasing the other.
• and yet — you, someone who is strangely similar to hu tao to the point that the two of you are mistaken for twins, somehow made chongyun fall for you.
• at first, chongyun is so confused. how? why? he asks this little questions when he feels how hard his heart beats when you come to sight, how his lips quirk when he hears you calling his name.
• chongyun obviously stops you from pranking others too much. he lets you get away with harmless pranks, ones that won’t make you hated like a certain director.
• he does his best to match your energy and your excitement, but sometimes it’s too tiring. however, don’t worry! he loves and adores your energy, and won’t make you change. he loves you genuinely!

XINGQIU.

• the two of you are a nightmare together. with xingqiu’s snarky yet seemingly innocent words partnered by your rather loud and borderline dangerous pranks, liyue is not safe.

• xingqiu is quite famous so no one dares to insult you within his vicinity. but he has ears and eyes around liyue and when he hears someone badmouthing his beloved, xingqiu is quick to act.

you were silent.

xingqiu lets out a soft sigh at your silence, snapping his book close. a frown slides on his lips when he notices you didn’t even pay attention, opting to gaze at the glittering waters of liyue harbor.

“my love, are you feeling alright?” he asks you softly. his hand coming up to grasp yours. when you turn to him, eyes glassy and lips trembling, xingqiu’s heart breaks. “why do people hate me…?” you asked him with a small voice. “what brought this on?” he asks you. “i pointed out something earlier since i figured out they were lying…they told me to shut up because no one likes me for doing that…” you answer him faintly, eyes downcast.

xingqiu frowns at your admittance, the gears in his head already turning. he already had plans on how ti pay that bastard back for making his beloved cry, but you needed him rught now.

gentle hands cupped your face as xingqiu smiles softly down at you. “don’t listen to them, my dear.” he coo’s, thumb wiping the tears that gathered at the corner of your eyes. “i personally think your ability to spot lies is very helpful. those people hate you because you reveal their lies, which they shouldn’t be doing in the first place.” xingqiu tells you, and his heart tugs at how your eyes turned a little bit brighter.

“they are fools, y/n. don’t listen to their words.”

and as xingqiu embraces you, his hand rubs circles on your back as he whispered sweet nothings to your ears.

xiao frowns when he notices you were only staring at your plate of food, refusing to meet his eyes. briefly, he wonders if he did something wrong. but he knew he hasn’t done anything to warrant the silence you gave him.

“y/n?”

at the call of your name, you looked up to lock eyes with your adeptus boyfriend. his eyebrows were furrowed, eyes showing a hint of concern. “are you alright?” he continues, looking at you. biting your lip, you slump at his question. “no…i’m not.” you admitted.

lying to xiao was pointless - he already knew what you felt even before you told him. “it’s just that…i told one of my friends that his girlfriend was only using him for money and that he should break it off with her and he called me a liar!” you huff, glaring at the table. “he told me i was jealous and that i should stop lying when i know damn well his girlfriend is only using him for money! even a blind man can see that!” growling, you slammed your fist on the table.

your eyes tear up at the frustration that’s been building up inside of you and you couldn’t help but sniffle. “he told me he hated me because i’m trying to ruin his relationship…i’m a concerned friend! i don’t want him to be fooled…” your voice turns weak in the end. xiao promptly frowns at this, and he stands up.

xiao takes your hand in his, rubbing the reddening skin where you slammed your fist on the table. “what he did was wrong. he is a fool and he should take into account about what you said. it is not your fault he is blind and that he refuses to listen.” you knew xiao wasn’t the best in words, but your heart warms at his attempt to make you feel better.

“personally, i think a spear by his head will fit him for even daring to call you a liar.” “xiao!”

• seeing your once loving eyes turn cold and you walk away from him reminds zhongli of a forgotten memory from the past where his old love disappeared to dust in his arms.
• but somehow it was worse — because zhongli realized you and guizhong were so different. yet he thought of you similar to her and now, he lost you. he didn’t deserve someone like you, he thinks.
• zhongli goes by his days with no change in his expression or work. he even got his salary lifted because of how much he improved! great, right?
• wrong. he could have the smallest salary but have you by his side and zhongli would have been content. he missed you and your excited eyes whenever he told you a tale lost in time. he missed you and your touch whenever he is haunted by his past.
• he missed you — truly. he tries to convince himself he doesn’t need you, that you don’t need him. and maybe the latter is true. you were so happy and you smiled so brightly.
• did he chain you in the relationship? was he the reason why your eyes have gone so dull? perhaps letting you go was the best decision.
• so he turns and walks away, unknowing of your eyes that followed his figure that still yearned to be in his safe arms.
• ( tea time is no longer the same without you sitting in front of him. )

XIAO.

• the adeptus knew even you wouldn’t stay by his side. what else could he offer you, but pain? suffering? what else can he give you? he is not wealthy nor is he affectionate. so it is with this decision that he doesn’t run after you when you leave.
• make no mistake, xiao still loves you. he adores you and he longs to be with you but he has firmly agreed that you deserved someone better. someone that isn’t him.
• his golden eyes still follow you whenever he spots you. he still filters out everyone’s voices, in hopes he will hear your voice once again. it hurts more than his karmic debt to see you smile, but not ay him.
• it pains him to admit that he longs for you and your touch, for your reassurance and kindness. yet he cannot be selfish. he has to pay for eons of slaughter and he cannot afford to bring you down with him. he loves you too much to do so.
• xiao will still come if you call out his name. he will always be there for you, but nothing more as an adeptus. it pains him to see your eyes as he leaves you again and again but he convinces himself it was for the best.
• he didn’t take into account how much it breaks you to see his injured form yet not having the power you once had to treat him. you can only wish that one day, you’ll be enough for him.
• xiao will long for you and yearn, but he will not overstep his boundaries. the two of you are no longer bonded — you are nothing but a fond memory for him to look back on.
• ( the bed feels cold without your warmth. )

ALBEDO.

• albedo decided right there and then he truly despised relationships. it was hard to maintain, to make sure you were satisfied. it is with this cold words that the two of you split up, the other relieved.
• or so he thought he was — until he instinctively tells you to duck when an experiment blew up. until he sat for a minute, waiting for you to do his hair. until he longs for your arms to embrace him while he does experiments.
• albedo then realized he is a fool for letting you go — and maybe he wanted you back. but he sees your eyes and your smile and your laugh and.
• and then he decides he is not worth it . he decided that you deserve someone who can give you the attention you deserve.
• you deserved someone that isn’t him.
• with a heavy heart, albedo turns around and walks away. he does not see your eyes turn to him and how you ached to embrace and brush his hair.
• but albedo has made it clear he is bothered by your presence so you stay your hand and steel your heart.

you were here with your boyfriend, only excusing yourself to go to the restroom to wash your hands. yet when you came back — some girl was next to him, batting her eyelashes and an innocent yet flirtatious smile gracing her painted lips.

your eye twitched, but you will yourself to calm down. you breathe in, breathe out. close your eyes, open your eyes.

• xiao is already annoyed by this girl pestering him. his eyebrows are furrowed, a scowl decorating his face but she literally cannot get the hint. maybe it was the alcohol.
• he was about to tell her to, apologies, fuck off, when you came to save the day. you wrap your arms around his waist, sending a sweet smile to the girl who finally faltered at the sight.
• he holds in his chuckle when you start to speak, poison dripping from your words yet the eyesmile you gave seemed so innocent and kind. you were so kind and gentle but your words were anything but.
• like you weren’t telling the girl to look for another man to prey on because this man is already taken by you in the meanest way possible.

• childe was like this girl before when it came to you — doing everything he can so you notice him and give him a chance. he has to applaud her for trying, but childe was everything but unloyal.

• kazuha is literally one of the kindest people you know and he’s so gentle it’s hard to not like him. topped with beauty you swore was gifted by the gods.
• it isn’t a surprise he was being hit on, you’ve accepted that your boyfriend is both pretty and hot so it’s nothing new to see someone trying to flirt with him. what pisses you off however, is that this is your first night with him and you weren’t going to spend it with your boyfriend being hit on by someone right. in front. of you.
• kazuha already knows you were there, a knowing smile forming on his face when you slide up next to him, laying your head on his shoulder while you stared daggers at the female in front of you. he wraps his arm around your waist, bringing you closer.

directions were important, you knew this. it’s been drilled to your head ever since you could walk and talk. everyone knew directions were important and it plays a big role on your life.

yet — why are you still lost?

groaning for the nth time this day, you slowly glare at the map in your hands. you, a traveler and an adventurer, was lost.

it wasn’t rare! travelers or adventurers, even seasoned ones, get lost from time to time. but you were a different case.

because you always get lost. even if you have a map with you.

it’s a miracle, really. how you still haven’t wound up dead because of your airheadedness sometimes. you just enjoyed letting your feet take you to wherever, enjoyed walking around the vast land of liyue and discovering ruins.

maybe it was because of him — the conqueror of demons.

the first time you met him, you somehow ended up lost in the middle of luhua pool. everywhere you looked, it’s just water and ruins you were not familiar with. instead of being discouraged, you pushed forward since you weren’t new to getting lost.

and then he had to come save you because you almost died when encountering a ruin guard while trying to find a way to return to liyue harbor.

since then, he’s always there for you when you were lost. somehow ending up in the old domain of the salt god? lost in the middle of nantianmen? almost awakening the chi because you wandered into it’s domain? you couldn’t count with one hand on how many times xiao saved you.

it was beginning to look embarrassing, even if he looked indifferent to your apologies. he only nods and told you to speak his name if you need help before disappearing a flurry of green and black. one thing led to another, with you carelessly saying that you loved him as the both of you free falled from liyue’s tall mountain. somehow, your love was reciprocated.

you wanted to repay your lover— (the thought of xiao being your lover brings warmth to your cheeks.) and you decided to visit him and make almond tofu.

and so began your journey to wangshuu inn.

rubbing your head, you looked around you. ruins, tree’s, the hilichurls who hasn’t noticed you yet, more ruins and absolutely no inn in a tree in sight.

burying your face on your hands, you groan. “i don’t want to call him … he’s always saving me. i don’t wanna burden him.” you whisper onto your clammy hands, before huffing. you look up to the rapidly darkening sky, and you shiver as the coldness of liyue envelops you slowly.

“but i bet he’d be more annoyed if i don’t call him …” sighing, you shake your head. he’s told you countless times before, that you should call him when you’re lost. you didn’t want to, didn’t want to get in the way of his duty. but xiao would be more upset if he learned you stayed out so late, lost in the rolling hills of liyue instead of calling him.

making up your mind, you cup your hands around your mouth and softly called his name. you knew the wind will bring your call to him.

“y/n?”

smiling sheepishly when you turn around, xiao’s unimpressed face greets you. a pang of guilt hits you, and it makes you rub your head.

“i’m sorry … i got lost.” you admitted, looking down. “i was going to visit you in wangshuu in but …” gesturing to the area around you, you let out another disappointed sigh. “i probably interrupted you, did i? i’m sorry. you can go ahead — i’ll find my way!” you try to assure him, only for you to fall short when xiao steps closer.

his tattoeed arm wraps around your waist, bringing you closer to him. at this distance, you can see the flecks of orange in his golden eyes. “silence already. didn’t i tell you? if you need me, just speak my name and i will come.” he murmurs, a frown on his face.

it makes your heart flutter, and a giddy smile slips on your face. wrapping your arms around his neck and burying your face on his shoulder, you nodded. “i know. thank you, xiao.”

your feet leaves the ground as xiao carries you into the air, the fickles of black and green surrounding the both of you as the surroundings between the both of you changes quickly. the wind whips your hair around, and you shut your eyes in response to the harsh winds.

you almost missed his words.

“thank you for calling me, y/n.”

you only smile at his whisper, and say nothing.

even if your luck makes you end up in dangerous places, even if you somehow end up in inazuma or in sneznhaya, you know you will always return.

because xiao will always be your home, and he will come if you call him.

xiao realizes his mistake a little too late.

when he first met you, he realized something. that you were someone who was too hard on yourself, blamed yourself for every little thing, and is always apologizing even if it wasn’t your fault.

xiao didn’t know the details of your past as you preferred not to talk about it, but he does know some pieces. manipulation perforned by the people you thought you could trust, that led to you breaking down and changing.

at first, xiao was annoyed. not at you, per say — but at your habit. he bumped into you, why say sorry? your order was wrong, why apologize? for every little thing, you seemed to blame yourself. though, xiao grew to accept it. he knew it was hard for you to change the habit.

back at the present — xiao realizes his mistake a little bit. it’s a few days before lantern rite, and xiao has been growing anxious. monsters are being affected by his karmic debt, and xiao’s been stretched thin in defending liyue from these threats.

he was tired and fatigued, annoyed and on his last thread of his patience. on this day, you chose to try and persuade him to go with you on lantern rite. it was the first time you grew the confidence and initiative as well.

but it was xiao who rejected you so harshly, whose eyes have grown dark and annoyed. it flashed in warning, telling you to silence yourself already.

it triggered your habit.

“i-i’m sorry. i’m sorry, xiao. i won’t do it again. i’m sorry. i’m really sorry.” you managed to say through your bowing, through the tears that formed on your eyes at xiao’s words.

the adeptus stiffens, and he quietly sighs. despite being not good in physical affection, he gathers you in his arms and buries his face in your hair.

“stop saying sorry. i’m the one at fault.” he murmurs softly, awkwardly brushing your hair. he feels your tears soak his shoulder, before you nodded. “‘m still sorry.” you mutter against his shoulder, arms coming up to snake around his waist.

xiao does not respond, and instead, taps your waist three times.

i love you.

smiling softly, you bury your face on his neck.

being in love with childe feels like being in a rollercoaster. you hate him one moment for something he did, then suddenly you love him again after he apologizes so genuinely. and you try to think — what if he loves you?

and you see him with someone else, and he looks so happy. his usually dull eyes are bright, and sparkle with wonder and happiness. his smile is genuine and his cheeks are dusted red and. and.

you realize, childe will never look at you like that. that you will forever be a good friend to him.

being in an unrequited love with childe feels like drowning. you are reaching for the surface of brightness, to reach for the happiness you yearn and for the love you think you deserve, but there is something holding you back and it is his bright eyes. it’s his genuine smile. it’s his flushed cheeks.

and it is holding you back because you know childe will never look at you like that.

so you shut your feelings out, lock it deep in your heart, and tell yourself it is for the best. because what use is it, confessing to him, when you know damn well he will never feel the same way towards you?

DILUC.

being in love with diluc feels like cuddling in front of a fireplace. it’s warm, cold, and it feels right. it feels like home — in his arms and his gentle eyes.

but that all shatters, when you realize that diluc thinks of you as family.

he does not see you the way you see him. he sees you like a sibling, someone he cherishes and someone he will love, but not in that way. he sees you like family, and he will forever see you like that.

you see his gentle eyes turn into something you hate — because you once thought that his eyes towards you meant he reciprocated your feelings. his warm arms feel cold, colder than winter itself because you realize he is holding you because he thinks of you as a sibling.

you feel yourself break, feel the unquestionable crack in your heart when he looks at someone else, and then you see the difference.

he pats your head, but kisses their forehead. he grasps your wrist, but he holds their hand. he looks at you with gentle eyes, but he looks at them as if they hung up all the stars in the sky. and you realize — that you mistook his gestures for romantic love.

ALBEDO.

falling in love with albedo was not easy. he was cold, he replied with short sentences and he seemed to look at you as if you weren’t interesting enough for him to spend his time on.

but you persevered. you listened to his rants at 3AM, you brought him food when you know he wasn’t eating again, you watch his little sister for him when he’s busy, and then slowly, he opens up to you.

his once cold eyes turn warm, his lips quirk at the sight of you, and he talks to you more than he talked to anyone else. and you think — you think ah, maybe he loves me back.

but that’s all proven naught when you realize he only sees you as a good friend. that he thinks of you as someone that he can count on. he admits to you, with nervous eyes, that he cannot feel. that he cannot feel romantic feelings.

and it hurt. it hurt because of the signals he gave you. but it’s your fault, right? you mistook his flags, his signals. you assumed, and that assumption of yours landed you in a love that will never happen.

you tell him it’s fine, that it’s okay to not love. that it’s okay to not feel romantic attraction. you tell him it’s okay, even if your heart breaks into pieces and you feel it spread when he embraces you, relieved that you understand. you do — you really do. but at the cost of your own feelings.

VENTI.

how can anyone not love venti? he was free spirited, he was kind and gentle, he was funny and he loved so freely, so beautifully. being his friend was a blessing.

but falling in love with him was a curse. because he will never look your way, too focused and too busy in others to notice you. you are only there for support, for him to lean on when everything is too much.

venti is kind and gentle, he is funny and he makes you laugh when things are too much and you are down in the dumps. and you fall for him as if you threw yourself off of a plane without a parachute.

but it is fine — it is fine, because for you, it is okay. that he only sees you as a friend, that he will only love you as a precious friend, and that he will only hold you because there is no one else.

and then everything makes sense — when you see the slight flash of fear in his eyes when someone confesses. and you realize, that he is scared of falling in love because it might take his treasured freedom away.

and you didn’t want that. you didn’t want your own feelings to chain down your best friend. so you tell yourself, you will rid your feelings of him. you didn’t want it to burden venti, you didn’t want him to be scared of you. so you trample on your feelings, and tell yourself that it’s fine. because your friendship will always come first, before your love.
