Difference between C4, C10 and C6
« on: August 03, 2012, 01:12:16 pm » I'm wondering what the difference is between the c4,c10 and c6.And do they all fit the 67 and 68 mustangs without any modifications etc.?As far as my research so far is that the c4 and c10 are similar but the c10 is slightly stronger. The c6 however is a different beast: it is stronger again, and it was used to bolt up behind big blocks:Q: Will it bolt up behind a small block? like a 302 etc? Best of three races won both cars. One of the teams went for a C6 and couldn't use it because it came with the wrong bell housing, so had to revert to C4, which indicates you can't put a C4 housing on a C6.Hope this throws more mud on the pile!cheers, Ron B Logged

Alot of the C10 bell housings fit the Cleveland block. The C6 is the choice for the big blocks as it has muscles on its SHiT. It handles bigger horse power and will never let you down. I don't think a standard 302 will fit it although someone will make a conversion kit for a price. Logged

The C6 is a different transmission, it doesnt have a removable bellhousing, and they are made to suit small and big blocks. The C6 is a fair bit bigger than a C4. Logged

C4 series boxes can be made to handle big horsepower, for big $$, and the Aussie made planetaries are better than the US ones, but if you have big torque, a C6 is much better. Smaller case like c4 but has c10 internals ... No tunnel mods... Fully rebuilt with billet servo and all the banger upgrades to handle 500 plus hp. Under $1500... That was with the big B&M pan. 100% satisfied. See how it takes to the new 351 stroker going in. Logged

They fit snug in the tunnel but sit back about 2" further than a C4. You will need to shorten your tailshaft and change your crossmember. I used a T5 crossmember. Speedo cable needs lengthing too. A strong box. Weights much more than a C4. Logged He, with the most toys wins.
