Winco I am performing a lot a searches on this forum regarding lights and HID and all that. Lots of useful posts. One question I have regarding the fogs. What is the difference between H8 and H11 bulbs? Looking at Automotive General Headlight Wedge OEM Visual Bulb Specifications Wattage Amperage Lumens Avergae Life and Cross Reference I cannot see any differences. #1 · Dec 8, 2013 I am performing a lot a searches on this forum regarding lights and HID and all that. I've bought from them before and I'm impressed, except for the costs. M. #3 · Dec 8, 2013 The main difference is that the locking tab on the 2 bulbs are different, to stop you from fitting the wrong bulb. These can be filed down on the H11 so you can fit it into an H8 holder.

Or are some late non-facelift fogs H8? I don't know, but I thought from what I had read that that was the change point. #7 · Dec 9, 2013 WoodB Yes, it is MY2008 pre-facelift. Or to put it another way, the last of the chrome, but there is another thread discussing this point. From what I can gather from a bulb supplying website, and others such as Eurocarparts is: Early cars have H1 Fogs Later cars have H8 fogs, unless there are factory fitted Xenon headlamps, in which case the fogs are H1. I am happy to be corrected if I have got this wrong. What further confused me, was the fact that some forum posts referred to fitting H11 into their fogs. Where they are so similar to H8, it appears you could fit H11, despite the tag difference noted by mjtemple? At the end of the day, I need to physically check mine to find out for sure. #8 · Dec 9, 2013 (Edited) Well, there's a turnip, as an old mate of mine used to say. I've just stared into the eyes of my fog lights and they're fitted with H8s. As you can see from my sig, my car is a 2007, registered in July if I recall correctly. So that then begs the question, what is "early" and what is "late"? Glad I looked though before I bought spare bulbs. That is the year where they changed the rear brake calipers, steering wheel, front upper grille and dropped the classic spec if I remember correctly. #10 · Dec 9, 2013 Ah, I thought I had read that it was the pre and post facelift definition. I am constantly finding that things that I think I definitely remember are not true at all. I think it's an age thing! #11 · Dec 9, 2013 Well I suppose if you take into account the facelift then there's 3, pre 2004, post 2004 and the 2008 facelift. So technically speaking there is "early", "middle" and "late" models to consider, its just figuring out which parts are crossed over each model. #12 · Dec 11, 2013 Standard H8 bulbs seem to be 35w and H11 55w which might explain the tag difference so that the higher watt bulbs aren't fitted, (manufacturers usual safety concerns apply, melting wiring,melting housing/lens, fuse rating etc. just like they never recommended fitting 100w bulbs to ordinary headlights) Insert Quotes Post Reply
