| gazweller Registered User Thread OP | Discussion What next after the XK110? XK130 vs Blade 130s vs Trex 150 I've been flying my two XK110's quite a bit over the last few weeks and I'm enjoying them immensely! The XK110 is an ideal size for me as I can fly it quite happily in the nearby open spaces. Less travel time=more flying time! As my flying is progressing I've been thinking about what my next model should be. The obvious choices are the XK130, Blade 130s or the Trex 150. The XK130 looks good, is cheap, but the delivery time for spares is a bit of a PITA. The 130s is more expensive, has shorter flight times, but spares are locally available. The Trex is the most expensive but again spares are readily available. At the moment I'm leaning more towards the XK130, and ordering the BTF version (for use with a multi protocol module in my Taranis Q7 transmitter) , along with a few spares. Does this sound a good way to go? Any pitfalls/problems I should be aware of with the XK130? What spares should I order with it - presumably the usual suspects such as main gears, blades etc, etc. Thanks! Gary |

| BrokeDad Heligamist | I would suggest you go bigger if you have the flying space. The Blade 230S V2 is a great option. Or if you prefer even go up to a 450-470 sized heli. If you can fly the K110 in 3D mode then you can pretty much fly anything. |

I have resurrected my 6 year old Trex 250SE and have been flying it also it my local spaces but it is just a little too big to comfortably fly there - especial at my skill level! Therefore was looking for something a tad smaller. It's a pity there is nothing in between the 130/150 and 250/270 size. Maybe the Oxy 2 with 190mm blades ?? |

zadaw | The Blade 130S is by far the most durable of the three. However, its 3D performance is lackluster compared to the other two. Both the K130 and 150X can turn into money pits if you are not careful. The Oxy2 is now only available with the stretch boom. So it is as big as the Trex 250 even with 190mm blades. |

I've done so and am pretty happy with the results, especially in the power department! It will take more damage in crashes than a regular K110 though and it of course vibrates quite a bit more if you even slightly bend a FS. But spares are cheap, it's a great size for park flying, and it flies great for its size. |

I searched the K110 thread for a little bit but didn't find the post that explains the steps at a high level. |

I haven't ordered one yet, but it is definitely on my list. funny that when I started, my yard was too small for my 9958, then my v911 (both 100 size) now I fly my 250 se with DFC head, 450 pro fbl also dfc, running 4s, Fusion 270 (another 4s beast) 180CFX (did I really say not long ago it has plenty of power?) and so on in the same yard... it was all in the tuning... not of the heli, but the pilot |

I find it's black canopy to be a downside. Combined with it's small size I'm having a lot more trouble with orientation than the K110. An alternate canopy is an option - I'm going to try adding an LED to the front. |

K2-tokyo Registered User | I have an XK K110, a Trex 150GRS, and an XK K130. Concerning the 6-axis gyro behavior (in particular, acceleration sensor performance), the XK K110 is the best. The XK K130 is the worst. So I replaced the receiver gyro of Trex 150 GRS with that of the XK K110 for some scale helicopter. I shall replace the receiver gyro of XK K130 with that of the XK K110 soon (to do so, you need the change of the directions of 2 servos, and the tail brushless conversion). |

It has so much power that it gets very small very quickly. The black blades don't help, either. |

BirdBarber Hummingbird Assassin | A fluorescent drinking straw fits perfectly over the K130 boom and is a major improvement in visibility. I hate hot pink but I think it's the most visible, so I put up with it. |

K2-tokyo Registered User | Hi Birdbarber A very nice idea, "A fluorescent drinking straw" for a XK K130. I am testing the better 6-axis gyro conversions of a Trex 150 and an XK K130 by using Spirit Flight controllers. Images View all Images in thread -
