Eh???????? I paid about £20 for mine from TPS. I doubt whether that's the problem though as mine drove perfectly even without a working speedo. The car needs a diagnostic scan to see if any fault codes are stored to save spending money on parts that aren't needed. Chris. #5 · Oct 12, 2010

If youe speedo is working then its more than likely a wiring issue, i have done two lately and both been different wiring faults, one from the speedo to the clocks and the other from the clocks to the ecu, your fault will more than likely lie between the clocks and the ecu. Are you just getting a fault code? #6 · Oct 12, 2010 ill re-scan on my vag com tomorrow and post up the current faults, and type! [:D] #7 · Oct 13, 2010

I know Chris, but that's what Abridge Loughton quoted for a G28 for an AGU and I wasn't the only one who'd be quoted that figure judging by the response on here at the time. That's why I went to GSF who charged about the same as you paid (£25 was a next-day delivered price). At the OP; What makes you think it the G28 sensor? I don't know where it is on a 1.4, but it's not at the back of the engine on an AGU. #8 · Oct 13, 2010 after scanning with vag com i get these codes back: 00513 - engine speed sensor (G28) static, no signal. 00282 - throttle position actuator (V60) static, output open. ive since taken the throttle body off and cleaned it thoroughly, this has improved tickover, but hasnt stopped the engine stalling totally or the 4000rpm cutout! any help would be much appreciated. [:D] #9 · Oct 13, 2010 also i have tried replacing the camshaft sensor, this did nothing [:(] #10 · Oct 13, 2010 can anyone tell me what the ohm reading should be on the crankshaft sensor (G28) And what pins on the plug i should be putting the multimeter? Cheers #11 · Oct 14, 2010 also how likley is it to be the coil pack causing these faults? #12 · Dec 13, 2010 did you get this sorted bud?? ive got a very similar problem... also just so i can check wiring etc... where is the speed sensor on a 1.4?? cheers Statey #13 · Dec 14, 2010 wrote it off before i managed to find the problem LOL ! the speed sensor is located right at the back of the engine on the side of the gearbox bell housing. Its located in a recessed hole with a rubber bung covering it, and the loom comes out and across to the left hand side of the engine, where a harness is located. are you suffering from the same mystery wiring fault thats causing misfire? :) Insert Quotes Post Reply
