JamieP86 Afternoon all, TCS light came on after coming back from holiday last week, scanned the car this evening and the fault code 01435 came up. After some googling, I've seen the G201 fault to be well known and it boils down to this sensor within the ABS unit failing, needing a full ABS replacement or use of the repair kit that has been made available. Now, I've seen via a few threads on various forums that have come to an outcome that VW have replaced for free regardless of warranty as its a known issue, although I cannot find any official VW technical bulletin or other literature. Has anyone had this problem before? Did you go through VW / Audi etc and what was the outcome? Any information would be great. Cheers guys! The problem is down to the Teves 60 ABS pump and the integrated G201 sensor and in the early days the solution was to replace the whole pump at a cost of £1,200 however over the last few years a repair kit has been produced which costs around £200. In all the cases I've heard of VW has granted goodwill even well out of warranty. Somebody on here recently had the problem and got goodwill from VW. Sorry can't remember who it was. #3 · Jan 17, 2013 Cheers for the info Bob, lets hope the person who had the problem recently views this thread and can shed some light on it. I don't want to go to VW straight away without any information backing myself up. Worst case scenario I'll be out a few hundred pound, but if VW offer a good will gesture I'll be happy! #4 · Jan 17, 2013 http://www.r32oc.com/topic/46432-dreaded-abs-pressure-sensor-failure/page__fromsearch__1 Found the above thread, so looks hopeful, I guess the next step is to contact my local VW dealer. #5 · Jan 17, 2013 Believe me your VW Dealer will know about it but if you don't have any joy with the dealer, VW Customer Service are worth calling. The Teves 60 has been a very big problem for a couple of manufacturers including BMW and Volvo but VW were late to acknowledge the problem which gave them them a lot of bad PR and a few people with hefty bills just after their warranty ran out. #6 · Jan 18, 2013 Any other input? #7 · Jan 18, 2013 Just called VW and booked in for 5th of Feb (earliest date they have a hire car) They will diagnose the problem there and if comes back with the G201 fault, they're happy to repair FOC. #8 · Jan 18, 2013 That was relatively painless then:) #9 · Feb 5, 2013 My dashboard ESP warning light came and the ESP turned itself of about a week ago. Through a friend I got an OBD II reader plugged into the car. It gave the fault code 01435, the G201 sensor. I phoned my local VW dealer yesterday...... My R is with them today, and they have said that so long as it shows the correct fault code on their diagnostics system, then it will be repaired completely 'free of charge'. So I'm sitting waiting, very hopeful for good news when they phone me...... I'll update with how I get on, and thanks to those for their previous updates/info regarding this issue.... Image #10 · Feb 5, 2013 There is no reason why VW will get a different fault code, so I'm pretty sure they'll fix it it FOC #11 · Feb 5, 2013 Thanks mate....... they are just off the phone to say that it is the same code and that VW will be paying for the repair in full. They just don't have the repair kit in stock, so I'll need to leave it with them until tomorrow. But good result as far as I'm concerned...... Especially since I have already left a deposit on a car and technically traded the car R in. Image I have loved the R32, probably my best car to date, just time for a change. #12 · Feb 5, 2013 Good result:) #13 · Feb 5, 2013 Absolutely. Thanks folks......... #14 · Feb 5, 2013 Shad blue, mines in today also for the work... All FOC and have been given a lovely 1.6 Diesel Mk6 as a courtesy car... Such a bore to drive! #15 · Feb 5, 2013 Hi Jamie, Excellent mate, glad your getting yours sorted out as well. I'm lucky that I was off work today and tomorrow and so I did not need a courtesy car. So my car could get taken instantly, parts ordered and fitted tomorrow. Hopefully we will both have 'fixed' cars soon.......... Image #16 · Feb 6, 2013 Just had a call saying its all done and ready. Hopefully can get off work early enough today, if not will have to be tomorrow. #17 · Feb 6, 2013 (Edited by Moderator) I got my car back this morning. All seems great so far. No charge, so I'm well pleased. Only annoying thing, which is why I don't like putting my car in to these places, was they added 5 miles to it. Might seem a bit pathetic moaning about it, and I know they may need to do a quick road test, but its usually round the block. I know it would have been on a cold engine, or may have been sitting in the garage with the engine running which would bring the average down, but their 5 miles was done at an average mpg of 12.2mpg. Suggests they possibly had a good test drive. Anyway, it was fixed free, and there doesn't appear to be any damage. They washed it and topped up all fluids etc. Just in time for it being traded-in. It is looking good though, maybe I should keep it......... its been a great car, its a MkV but registered 2005 so cheap tax, and its done a genuine 36,000 miles with leather interior. #18 · Feb 6, 2013 Glad you have it sorted... Picking mine up tomorrow so will have to see how much of a test drive they've had in mine! Although I asked them not to wash it! Insert Quotes Post Reply
