The National Hockey League Stanley Cup playoffs started last week, and many former men’s ice hockey Terriers are on the playoff ice.
1. Charlie Coyle
Now a center for the Minnesota Wild, Coyle played for the Terriers from 2010 to 2012, while studying at the College of General Studies. He scored 56 points for the Wild this season, putting a career-high 5 game-winning goals in net.
2. Colin Wilson
Wilson, a left wing for the Nashville Predators, played for BU from 2007 to 2009 as a student in the College of Arts & Sciences. He helped the Terriers win the 2009 NCAA National Championship and was drafted seventh overall by the Predators in 2008.
3. Nick Bonino
Bonino—a Terrier from 2007 to 2010—attended CAS. He is now playing center for the defending 2016 Stanley Cup–winning Pittsburgh Penguins.
4. Alex Chiasson
Chiasson was on the BU team from 2009 to 2012, while at CAS. He is now a right wing for the Calgary Flames. Chiasson led the Terriers in scoring during the 2010–11 season; he scored six goals during his first six NHL games in 2013.
5. Adam Clendening
Clendening attended Metropolitan College and played on the Terrier team from 2010 to 2012. He is now a defenseman for the New York Rangers. He captured two gold medals at the World Under-18 Championship, one in 2009 and one in 2010.
6. Kevin Shattenkirk (CAS’11)
Shattenkirk is a defenseman for the Washington Capitals. The CAS grad competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, with the United States Men’s National Team.
7. Eric Gryba (MET’10)
Gryba, a four-year Terrier who helped BU capture the 2009 NCAA National Championship, is now a defenseman for the Edmonton Oilers.
8. Charlie McAvoy
McAvoy, who recently left BU, played on the Terrier team starting in 2015, attending CGS. The Boston Bruins defenseman was drafted 14th overall by Boston in 2016, and made his professional debut in game one of this year’s playoffs.
9. Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson
Center Forsbacka Karlsson joins former teammate McAvoy on the Bruins bench for the playoffs. He attended CAS from 2015 to 2017 and was a Terrier assistant captain.
