Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. In this section, we are going to illustrate the Fujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Fujifilm X-E2S has external dimensions of 129 x 75 x 37 mm (5.08 x 2.95 x 1.46″) and weighs 350 g (0.77 lb / 12.35 oz) (including batteries). Fujifilm X-M1 has external dimensions of 117 x 67 x 39 mm (4.6 x 2.62 x 1.54″) and weighs 330 g (0.73 lb / 11.64 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Fujifilm X-E2S and the Fujifilm X-M1. Fujifilm X-M1 is 12mm narrower and 8mm shorter than Fujifilm X-E2S but it is also 2mm thicker.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Fujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Fujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1.Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Fujifilm X-M1 is 20g lighter than the Fujifilm X-E2S but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Fujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1 have the same Fujifilm X lens mount and APS-C sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

X-E2S X-M1 Min Average Max Weather SealingUnfortunately neither the Fujifilm X-E2S nor Fujifilm X-M1 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. If weather sealing is a must-have feature for you, check these sections: Top Mirrorless Cameras with Weather Sealing
LCD Screen Size and FeaturesFujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Fujifilm X-M1 features a Tilting screen where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels whereas the Fujifilm X-E2S has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to X-M1.Both Fujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1 have 16.0 MP resolution sensors but Fujifilm X-E2S's sensor is APS-C (23.6 x 15.6 mm ) and Fujifilm X-M1's sensor is APS-C (23.6 x 15.6 mm ).
Since Fujifilm X-M1's has a larger sensor area with the same resolution, this means that it also has a larger pixel area hence better light collecting capacity for a given aperture compared to Fujifilm X-E2S.Another similarity between these two cameras is that both Fujifilm X-M1 and Fujifilm X-E2S sensors lack anti-alias (Low-Pass) filters. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.
Below you can see the X-E2S and X-M1 sensor size comparison.
Fujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1 have the same sensor sizes so they will provide same level of control over the depth of field when used with same focal length and aperture.
The number of available lenses is a big deciding factor when choosing your interchangeable lens camera. Fujifilm X-E2S and Fujifilm X-M1 have the same Fujifilm X lens mount and currently there are 117 native lenses available for these cameras.
Another important factor is the availability of image stabilization. None of these bodies have sensor based image stabilization so you have to buy lenses with Optical stabilization feature. Currently there are 20 lenses with Image stabilization for Fujifilm X mount.
