How big of a difference between these two cards? On my local online store, the 960 is about 10 USD more than the 1060. The 1060 is a ZOTAC GTX 1060 Mini 3GB GDDR5 while the 960 is a ASUS GTX 960 OC 4GB GDDR5. Which one has better value? More CUDA cores and higher clock speed, or more VRAM? Please do not suggest any other cards.

Massive difference. Get the 1060.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

1060 destroys 960. No matter which GB version it is

It does matter but the difference is so vast it's not a contest, even when the vram comes into play the 1060 would be better due to how it function in those scenarios

If you're talking about cards that are equivalent in other respects (or close to it), yes, and in general more VRAM is better. In this case, the 1060, even the cut-down 3GB version, is so much better than even the 4GB 960 in every other respect that losing a gigabyte of VRAM doesn't matter.

do yourself a favor and pony up to the 6GB version of the GTX1060

sooner or later you'll end up with VRAM limit problems and my guess is that you won't be upgrading that video card for the next few years, so yeah ... get the 6GB model
