stngray72 said: the hegel 300 Click to expand...Thanks how is hegel 300 compare to H390? I can get H390 for $4700 ( us$) ...my main question is if I want to use my own DAC with it , will it worth $4700 , although it is good to have DAC on board as in future I might want to use it alone in another room ... as my DAC ( DAVE) mainly been used for my headphones 0 Reply #13 · Feb 6, 2021 (Edited) I'm running a 350w/ch Carver amp on my LS50's, and a 100w/ch NAD M10 on my LS50 Meta pair. Sure, they're rated for up to 100 watts but that means nothing and headroom plus control of the drivers means everything. No amp mentioned stands out as inadequate, and even the lowest-power one (the Naim Supernait 3) is fantastic. I would just consider the features you absolutely need now, and what you may need in the near future. One thing that I want to mention to @glangford is that with the KEF LS50 (and especially the newer LS50 Meta), it's a rare speaker which delivers more and more as the amplifier and source improve. Cost is actually irrelevant because those speakers are widely regarded as one that outperforms its cost by considerable margins as the amplification improves. I have heard speakers that cost 2 to 5 times as much which don't sound any better or worse with a $500 or $5000 amp, but that's not true of the LS50. #14 · Feb 6, 2021 Thanks Thats what I thought that LS50 have more potential than with my Rega Brio at the moment ...so if it was you would you go with Hegel, Luxman or Rega? please note I have Chord Dave as DAC. Show more replies 1 Reply #22 · Feb 8, 2021 I believe either would handle the LS50's easily. The reason is the headroom that Luxman builds into their amps, and of course a class A amp acts upon speakers differently than a class A-B. As @Class A has given you a very good description of how each performs, it comes down to your confidence level with whichever suits your needs and wants best. #31 · Feb 9, 2021 The stock issue probably relates to Covid-19. I know as an example McIntosh is behind in production. Having a good local dealer is always a plus. In my case I've been dealing w/the same store for over 20 years. Any problems I just go to them. The Luxman service here in the USA is excellent.
