HEVC Is Choppy/jerky On Android VLC - Video Transfer
Experiencing choppy/jerky playback of HEVC files in VLC on your Android device? Actually, this is a common issue. Depending on your source media specifications, your device model and much more, HEVC playback on your Android phone/tablet may have different performances.
HEVC MKV is jumpy in VLC on my Pixel “Hi guys, I try to play a .mkv movie on my Google Pixel phone through VLC player. VLC can play it, but the playback is quite jumpy/choppy. The MKV movie is encoded with HEVC (H.265) codec. I can play H.264 MKV fine, so I guess the HEVC codec may cause the issue. Is that true? How can I go through the problem? Please suggest a solution if you know. Thanks.”
If you are experiencing choppy or jumpy video playback, it could be down to a couple of factors. The first is that the MKV video could be encoded with the new H.265 (HEVC) codec. The more likely cause of the problem however is down to hardware. If your CPU/GPU is inadequate to decode it, you will get jumpy or choppy playback. In that case, we would recommend converting HEVC files first for a smooth viewing experience on your Android via VLC.
