Saw a thread similar to this concerning Platinum/Black and White, and obviously, BW is better. But, did you guys prefer HG/SS, or Black and White? I'm getting my first DS over the weekend, and I was wondering which one to get. I played the original Silver (my all time favorite Pokemon game) when I was a kid, and beat it about 3-4 times over, so I thought BW would be the most logical choice, since I already played Silver. But, with BW2 coming out in the fall, is HG/SS any better than BW, and which one should I get? I know HG/SS is much longer, has much more stuff to do (Pokeathlon, Battle Frontier, Gym Leader rematches, etc.), but BW is brand new and fresh, even though there's not much to do postgame. So, which one is the better one to get at this point in time? Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Unova Champion † I am a Christian and proud of it! Copy and paste this if you are too.† N

Get BW because B2W2 is a sequel, not a remake and it'll be much different. Or if you have enough, get HGSS, play well saving up for BW and play BW well saving for B2W2. Credit to Fairy Witch​

Graphically and gameplay wise, Black and White is better. But I'd recommend you buy whichever game you want to play! Both are great games and it is your money. Switch : 1262-5767-2705 PSN:MrReloaded96 I gave up trying for a decent sig.​

Buy HG/SS! It's so much better. It's all about the post game really. What's the point if you beat the elite four but can't do anything? There is no point. HG/SS has lots more stuff to do, much easier to train pokemon and there's plenty of post game. We all played Johto on the GBA but that shouldn't stop you from buying HG/SS. B/W just has stupid looking pokemon, no post game etc.... Definitively HG/SS Credit to Sworn Metalhead for the amazing banner.​

Fixed. Yeah... I'd recommend HGSS. BW is very good, but the lack of post game content... and, pretty much ANY-thing... really kills it. Interesting story, but that's about it. B2W2 makes BW feel like a prototype in comparison. I'd go for HGSS, then when you've got a moment, look up some stuff for BW on YouTube or something, then get yourself B2W2. Have a blast with it. ​

"Just"?"JUST"?Are you kidding me?It has a ton of cool pokemon and about 25-30 sucky ones!They all aren't Vanillites and Munnas and Trubbishes. Here's a reminder that a move called "Spike Cannon" exists.

The point is that you beat the game. Most games have endings.

In BW, you battled Pokemon and in HG/SS you battled Pokemon. Seems about even to me.

I found it harder to train Pokemon, but let's pull out the facts. B/W had anywhere from 21-27 trainers a day while HG/SS had 5-10 trainers a day.

Most likely to make up for the short main game. Also, lets not forget the postgame had really low-leveled Pokemon.

I'd say HGSS. I didn't really enjoy BW for some reason. It just wasn't fun to me. Hi guys! I am working on a new forum and I would love some help getting it up and running. I recommend HG/SS. The story is exciting, it has the strongest trainer in any Pokemon game on (My pulse started racing when I battled him. I lost), loads of Legendaries to have fun catching, 16 badges to collect! Come on, who wouldn't want a long and fun game? http://i43.*******.com/otn79k.png​ S

It really goes down to whatever you want. But if you want more out of graphics, turn get Black and white not BW2 because those are sequels and you need to play the first games first. Plus, you already said it, you have the original silver, why would you want it again? A

It's a tough one for me. I really like the graphics from B/W, but I loved the following Pokemon feature in HG/SS. If it came down to a choice, I'd say B/W because of all the new graphical features and the improvement to the battling system. Workin' on a new one​ R

Even though I still do a lot of breeding and stuff in Plat/HG/SS, the frame rates are so much slower so its hard to "go back" after playing BW. As with any Pokemon game, the latest version is always going to be the "best" to get. All the promotional events will be for the latest versions. You'll get access to the Dream World. You can battle other people and use the GTS (and yes, GTS activity and battle activity in Gen 4 is much less nowadays). The game mechanics, graphics, etc... are the best. And hey, lets just say the truth: Not everyone is a hardcore Pokemon fan. You might like BW and be done with the games for a while. And if you want more, then you can go back and get HGSS. I would say BW because with the sequels coming out soon, you'll want to already have seen Unova.

Defying the odds

It comes down to what you want, but my favorite from the 2(4) would be BW. HGSS Plays just like the originals, with the exception of graphics and post-game. I really wasn't as entertained with it as I was with BW. I knew where the gyms were, I knew how to get from point X to point A from Org. Silver. Same as Silver, just beautified. (Though, I did really enjoy the feature where the pokemon walked with you, and I was disappointed to see it wasn't implemented in BW.) BW was new, and fresh. The storyline and the characters were great. The graphics were awesome, and I loved the new battle mechanics. There's just not anything bad I can say about it.
