There are two reasons we joined the AREA. Number one, we want to provide immersive training experiences that are effective without putting the hazard in front of the trainee early in their training process.

And two, figuring out return on investment, figuring out the best approaches within augmented reality to effectively deliver content, and achieve our training mission was the primary reason that we joined the AREA.

[The AREA was] working hard to solve the same challenges, so it was very helpful to us and gave us additional resources. And I've been a fan since that timeframe to see the work that the AREA is doing. I think it's instrumental. We want to be able to give back part of the knowledge that we have been developing, thanks to AREA. We want to make these lasting connections with the industry and with people that are actually deploying these technologies to the workers, into the field. We currently have about five professors that are involved in different aspects of AR/VR technologies. So our goal is to position Texas A&M at the forefront of AR research.
