Will Honda Now Make The CBF190TR In India?

The neo-retro motorcycle would be based on the same platform as the new Hornet 2.0

The Hornet 2.0 looks awfully similar to the China-specific CBF190R naked.
If Honda does bring this retro bike, its 184cc engine will arrive in the same tune as the Hornet.
Expect a slightly more premium pricing.

At the recent launch of the new Honda Hornet 2.0, the company announced its intention to ‘Excite and Expand’ in its 20th year of operations in the country. The Hornet 2.0 was the first of the new big-ish bikes and we guess the next one could very well be the CBF190TR. It is a neo-retro motorcycle built on the same platform as the CBF190R, the bike on which the Hornet 2.0 is based.

The CBF190TR is built by Honda’s Chinese partner Sundiro for its local market. The flavour of the motorcycle resembles Honda’s Neo Sports Cafe design theme that it is currently adopting for its nakeds. The CB1000R Plus was the first bike in India to get the new styling with the CB300R following suit shortly thereafter. The CBF190TR would in the same vein offer a similar old-school vibe but with the riding experience of a 21st century motorcycle.

What will remain more or less the same will be the mechanical bits from the Hornet 2.0. The new diamond-type frame will continue to house the new 184cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. On the Hornet 2.0 it puts out 17.27PS and 16.1Nm. The retro-style motorcycle will retain the USD fork, monoshock suspension hardware as well as petal disc brakes.

As it will be a bit more of a niche offering, the CBF190TR could be priced slightly higher than the Hornet 2.0. We think if Honda does make this bike here, it would attract a price tag of roughly Rs 1.35 lakh to Rs 1.40 lakh.
