OSD, or On Screen Display, is used to describe the physical menu buttons located on your computer monitor. By combining the many settings found within the operating system and the custom settings created with the OSD buttons, users can create their personal viewing Nirvana. Monitor manufacturers create the OSD lockout capability to preserve these custom display settings.

Disabling OSD Lockout

The OSD Lockout message appears when a certain OSD button has been held for a period of time, usually 10 seconds. With OSD Lockout activated, the monitor buttons will be non-responsive. Usually done purposefully to guarantee no accidental changes of monitor display settings, this can be activated accidentally if something is propped against the specific button. To disable this lock, hold down the button for another 10 seconds and the message should disappear. If this does not disable the lock, the button might have malfunctioned and need repair.
