LeonVFB L Bought a chrome stripped lower grille to match my hybrid grille. Anyone know how to swap the lower grilles? Do I have to take out the fog light covers first? I searched but everything I found was for the mk 5. And asked in the ask a dumb question thread...but nothing. You will need a prying tool to insert between the grille and the bumper and pull downwards near each clip at the top of the grille AND upwards near each clip at the bottom of the grille. While prying you will need to be pulling the grille outwards as well for each clip. This is the unofficial way. Hopefully this helps. The first time I did this it took me an hour due to unfamiliarity but the 2nd time it took 5 minutes. Sorry I can't explain this better but this was done before I had access to a video cam. Officially VW recommends you remove the front bumper (LOL) and turn it around so you can visually see the clips and undo them yourself from behind. #3 · Aug 19, 2013 (Edited) SOB that sounds like quite a bit of work lol. Is this something that you did by yourself or did you have a buddy help you out with it? 0 Reply #4 · Aug 19, 2013 TL; DR OP is a ****** #5 · Aug 19, 2013 I hope you curb your wheel...again KTHXBYE. #7 · Aug 19, 2013 :laugh: I don't always curb wheels...but when I do... it's the day I get them back from being refinished. The official way might need two people as you don't want to accidentally drop your bumper while removing it. It really isn't that hard doing it the unofficial way. You just have to be committed. It takes longer if you really are afraid of breaking something. #8 · Aug 19, 2013 :beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer: 0 Reply #10 · Aug 19, 2013 pics of said lower grille???? #12 · Aug 19, 2013 when I get home ill post a pic if you want...its just an oem lower grille that the sel's come with. If you want pics, look up ECS tunings foglight kit. They have a PDF file for installation and near the end is removing the lower grills. You'll have to remove fog covers since they overlap the center grill, and like previous post said, you can look at your new grill to see where the tabs are. If I remember, there are eleven? First few will be hard to get a first cause its on tight once first few are off, the rest is easy. Show more replies 0 Reply Insert Quotes Post Reply
