There are seven elements in the popular open-world RPG known as Genshin Impact. These elements are Pyro (fire), Cryo (ice), Hydro (water), Electro (electricity), Dendro (plants), Anemo (air), and Geo (earth/rock). They exist to help shape the game's lore, world, and combat. When elements are combined, an elemental reaction may occur. In combat, these reactions are extremely useful; a skilled player knows how to use them to quickly defeat enemies and enhance their damage. However, most new players may find it rather hard to memorize all of the different reactions and their impacts. This wikiHow will discuss every reaction in the game and its effects.

Steps

1. 1 Apply Dendro and Pyro to an enemy to cause the 'burning' reaction. When an enemy or player is affected by 'burning', they will receive continuous Pyro damage over time (DoT), quickly draining a portion of their health.
   • This reaction is extremely powerful against Dendro slimes.
   • There are currently no playable Dendro characters, but there is one that is mentioned in the story and is speculated to become playable in the future. Dendro Slimes already have the Dendro element applied to them, and Dendro Samachurls can apply the Dendro element to enemies and players in a field.
   • Playable characters Klee and Xiangling have elemental skills can easily apply Pyro, even when they are off the field.
2. 2 Apply Geo and Pyro/Hydro/Cryo/Electro to trigger 'crystallize'. Crystallize drops a gemstone that, if picked up by a player, generates a shield that absorbs some damage.
   • Enemies cannot have a Geo status effect. Pyro/Cryo/Hydro/Electro must be applied before Geo is applied for a crystal to drop.
   • The shield protects against all types of damage; however, it provides better protection against the shield's element.

3. 3 Cause the 'Electro-charged' reaction by applying both Electro and Hydro. Electro-charged causes slow-ticking Electro damage over time — enemies and players impacted by it will lose some HP over a period of time.
   • Be careful when using Electro when near bodies of water - you may accidentally apply Electro-charged to yourself and lose HP.
   • Playable characters Fischl and Raiden have elemental skills that can apply Electro easily whether or not they are on the field.
   • Playable characters Mona and Kokomi have elemental skills that apply Hydro effortlessly no matter if they're on the field or not.
4. 4 Trigger the reaction 'Frozen' by affecting an enemy with Cryo and Hydro. Frozen immobilizes enemies and players it affects. This allows for you to deal damage to opponents without them dealing damage to you for a period of time.
   • Additionally, when you hit a Frozen enemy with a Geo attack or claymore, you can trigger the 'shatter' reaction. This unfreezes the enemy and deals additional physical damage.
   • Playable characters Mona and Kokomi have elemental skills that apply Hydro effortlessly no matter if they're on the field or not.
   • Playable character Qiqi's elemental skill can apply Cryo to enemies, even if she's off the field.
5. 5 Inflict an enemy with Pyro and Cryo to trigger 'Melt'. Melt amplifies the DMG of the attack that caused it, with Cryo attacks receiving a 1.5x DMG bonus and Pyro attacks gaining a 2x DMG bonus.
   • Playable characters Klee and Xiangling have elemental skills can easily apply Pyro, even when they are off the field.
   • Playable character Qiqi's elemental skill can apply Cryo to enemies, even if she's off the field.
6. 6 Apply both Pyro and Electro to an enemy to trigger the 'Overloaded' reaction. Overloaded deals explosive AoE Pyro damage. It can also help break Geo shields (useful if fighting a Geochanter Bracer) and ore chunks.
   • Playable characters Klee and Xiangling have elemental skills can easily apply Pyro, even when they are off the field.
   • Playable characters Fischl and Raiden have elemental skills that can apply Electro easily whether or not they are on the field.
7. 7 Combine Cryo and Electro to inflict the 'Superconduct' reaction. Superconduct deals AoE Cryo damage and reduces the target's resistance to physical attacks. This reaction is the reason why both characters who are known as 'physical DPS' characters (Razor and Eula) wield Electro and Cryo Visions, respectively.
   • If you are building a character as a physical DPS, it is highly recommended to have both an Electro user and a Cryo user in your team comp. For instance, if you want to build Jean as a physical DPS and rely on her auto-attacks to deal damage, you could add the playable characters Diona (Cryo) and Keqing (Electro) to your party to cause superconduct.
   • Playable characters Fischl and Raiden have elemental skills that can apply Electro easily whether or not they are on the field.
   • Playable character Qiqi's elemental skill can apply Cryo to enemies, even if she's off the field.
8. 8 Cause the 'Swirl' reaction by inflicting an enemy with Anemo and Pyro/Hydro/Cryo/Electro. Swirl deals additional damage of the element combined with Anemo and spreads the aforementioned element to enemies within a small area of effect. This effect can trigger secondary elemental reactions; for example, if a Pyro swirl reaction was caused near enemies inflicted with Cryo, melt can occur.
   • Enemies cannot have an Anemo status effect. Pyro/Cryo/Hydro/Electro must be applied before Anemo is applied for swirl to occur.
9. 9 Inflict an entity with Pyro and Hydro to cause 'vaporize'. Like melt, vaporize also multiplies the damage of the attack that triggers it. If a Hydro attack was responsible for causing vaporize, its damage will be doubled. If a Pyro attack was responsible for causing Vaporize, its damage will be multiplied by 1.5.
   • Playable characters Klee and Xiangling have elemental skills can easily apply Pyro, even when they are off the field.
   • Playable characters Mona and Kokomi have elemental skills that apply Hydro effortlessly no matter if they're on the field or not.
