History[]

The H9 was designed from 2014 to 2016 by Billie "Cy" Hudson and Lauren Hudson. The company came on the firearms scene in 2016, teasing the pistol;[1] the pistol was formally introduced at the 2017 SHOT Show, and introduced another variant known as the H9A at the 2018 SHOT Show.

However, in 2018, a lawsuit was filed by Cambridge Valley Machining against Hudson Mfg, putting the future of the firearm into limbo;[2] Hudson formally filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in March 2019, effectively rendering the pistol discontinued.[3]

As of 2020, the patents for the pistol have since been bought by Daniel Defense.[4] The Daniel H9 was eventually introduced in 2024.

Design Details[]

The H9 is a derivative of the M1911 pistol, sharing the same grip angle and magazine release location as a M1911, although the H9 is chambered for 9×19mm Parabellum and is striker-fired. The recoil spring is located in front of the trigger guard in an attempt to give the pistol a lower bore axis, leading to lesser felt recoil and muzzle rise.[5]

The weapon uses a Trijicon HD front sight. The weapon's frame and slide are constructed out of steel. A number of design changes were made to the original M1911 platform which gives the pistol a different appearance when compared to the M1911, such as the placement of the recoil spring and a different sear design to mesh in with the trigger.[5]

Variants[]

H9A

Variant constructed of aluminum as opposed to steel. Never entered production due to Hudson's financial woes and eventual bankruptcy.
