But this topic is about the Nvidia GPU. As the laptop is being used by old people of my family for basic things like e-mail, web-surfing and office suite the integrated GPU would be enough. By using only the integrated graphic card the laptop can save a lot of energy and stay at a cool temperature all the time. The laptop is using MX Linux Xfce. I tried to get help on multiple forums regarding this one but it tells it's like nobody knows anything or doesn't want to help me.. I searched all over the internet for a complete and explanatory way (as for beginners) to install Bumblebee but all I found was nothing. This tutorial is not good and for some reasons MX cannot install nvidia-driver-libs-i386 as it cannot find it the repo?.. even though I activated all those links in the repo manager. Anyway this tutorial seems too superficial.. MX graphics installer and it's repo provides me as best solution with 460.91.03-1 and this is what I installed on it. But installing Bumblebee from the command line afterwards or from synaptic would just make Nvidia driver not work, at least X settings not accessible and no information from nvidia-smi neither. I want to either install Bumblebee and have the integrated card run most of the times or to completely deactivated Nvidia. How can I do this? I would need some baby steps please. Using prime is a Linux alternative to Bumblebee. | I am going to sound arrogant however I am saying it with modesty that this is exactly what is not helping me - the internet is full of explaining these kind of things. I also know about Prime. I don't need more philosophy. I need some good steps for doing/installing something that would stop Nvidia/make it not work most of the times. What commands, what packages, what orders of installation etc. in detail. Everybody on Youtube is flexing how they can make their laptop go for 3-4 hours (other 6-8 hours!) and mine barely stays on for 1 hour and 30 minutes on Firefox with TLP. | | Andreescu | | View Public Profile | | View LQ Blog | | View Review Entries | | Find More Posts by Andreescu | | Thread Tools | Show Printable Version | Email this Page | | Search this Thread | | Advanced Search | Posting Rules | | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is Off HTML code is Off Forum Rules | | Similar Threads | | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | | Disable discreet AMD GPU with Dedicated AMD GPU | nooobeee | Linux - Hardware | 13 | 04-19-2022 09:48 PM | | Does blacklisting discrete GPU driver completely disables discrete GPU, or using acpi_call is better decision? | SuperPrower | Linux - Hardware | 2 | 08-21-2017 09:32 PM | | Manjaro with Nvidia / Intel GPU: How to disable Bumblebee?
