Immediately the 730d on 19 wheels rather than the 20" of the 740d felt lighter nimbler and rode better, the car has less spec quite a bit less but of course that just adds to the lighter kerb weight. Without the xdrive it feels more neutral and sharper to drive, the 40/45 profile tyres are more forgiving and you can just roll over road imperfections, it's lower as well and generally a better car to drive and I really didn't think that the additional HP/torque of the 740d makes itself known in a way that you feel short changed with the 30d. I had the same feelings when I had a 330d sdrive loaner vs my 335d xdrive I think that the 30d sdrives are the sweet spot for the 3/4/5 and 7. __________________ 730d/Z4C

Sorry to hear about the accident, how's the whiplash coming along? Bad enough to find a change to a 30d ? __________________ My car made front page of Bimmerpost

LOL! I was on my way to a meeting at the Gore Hotel in London when it happened and everyone came out with that line, "where there is blame there's a claim." My neck is fine I've never claimed even when I was hit at 50mph in an F10 5 series back in 2012 and yes that did hurt. (weirdly only a mile away from where the recent accident happened) __________________ 730d/Z4C

I didn’t say snow, I said winter, which is about 9 months of the year in this country! Yes you can regulate your foot, and pull away like a granny driving a toyota yaris!

(SUV yes I get that they don't make sense as RWD so are excluded from that statement) I'm now trying to man math my way into a new 730d.... __________________ 730d/Z4C

Jaguar F Pace comes in rwd and it's supposed to be pretty good.

You can say that again, I was going sideways pulling away from the lights the other day on half throttle, still faster than all the other cars though

Not sure I could buy an SUV that wasn't AWD, I'd rather have an estate if I needed the space in the boot but wanted rwd. __________________ 730d/Z4C

Wills2 Barge driver Wills2's Avatar Ukraine 8832Rep 12,594Posts Drives: 730d Join Date: Aug 2014 Location: UK iTrader: (0) I spent some time in the Yorkshire dales today on the A59 and A65 so impressed with the car, I'm surprised more people don't have them (all though I do see quite a few these days now that I've got one) stunning cars. I discovered the 30d doesn't have the out right grunt of the 40d once out of town but it's still very impressive and you can really hustle it along I think I might get a set of 19" wheels on the 40d when I get it back as I think that might be the major difference. __________________ 730d/Z4C

Regulating does not mean driving like a granny, It just means knowing how to drive properly. __________________ Current - 2018 F32 430d M Sport+ Previous - 2013 F30 320d M Sport Previous - 2008 E92 320d SE

But if that is how much traction the car is capable of then you can’t pull away any faster than a granny!

Never had traction problems like that in 3 winters with the RWD 440i. Even a cross country run across sub-zero and snowy wales was fine. __________________ Drives - 2020 LR Discovery HSE-L Previous - 2019 LR Discovery HSE-L // 2016 F36 440i // 2009 E90 320D SE
