NETWORKED AUDIO PRECISION

For over 25 years, LINEAR speakers have represented the superior performance class within the HK Audio range. With their professional handling, precise resolution and high sound pressure reserves, they set the benchmark for what is possible in their class. The LINEAR 7 series is now taking a big step further: Powerful DSPs and advanced network intelligence not only provide more precise audio characteristics, but also a more efficient workflow and a whole host of additional power features.

THE LATEST IN AUDIO TECHNOLOGY

LINEAR 7 is intentionally based on the look and the proven robust mechanics of the LINEAR 5 series, with specific enhancements to the cabinet details. Both technically and acoustically, the LINEAR 7 speaker family represents a completely new development. The latest generation of high-performance speakers and drivers, specially designed horns, high-impulse Pascal Class-D power amplifiers, FIR filtering and the latest, exceptionally high-performance DSP platform with high-resolution converters all make the LINEAR 7 family an acoustically precise tool for demanding applications.

CARDIOID IN PRACTICE

While medium and high frequencies are naturally directional, low frequencies are spherical. This often leads to an unpleasant excess of low bass on and behind the stage. An even more serious issue is that it is becoming increasingly common for event organizers to set precise specifications for sound distribution. In the bass range, this can only be achieved with cardioid technology. The 18″ Linear 7 Subwoofer therefore meets all the requirements for quickly and easily implementing effective cardioid setups, both mechanically and with the available filter sets.

CONNECTIONS, CONTROLS AND REMOTE CONTROLLING

In addition to the analogue, balanced signal inputs and outputs, all LINEAR 7 models offer professional EtherCon connections. All devices in the system can be connected in series in a chain (daisy chain).

The full-range and multifunctional models can be preset depending on the type of use (standalone, as a monitor or in combination with a subwoofer). The subwoofer makes it easy to create Cardioid bass setups using the Cardio 1:1 and Cardio 2:1 presets.

The XLR signal output labelled “DSP Out” provides a network interface for integrating an additional active speaker that is not originally network-compatible. This can be independently controlled in its volume, filtering, limiting and delay. For example, LINEAR 7 mid/high units can be operated with LINEAR subwoofers, or LINEAR 5 LTS with the L7 118 Sub A subwoofer on the same network.

A PowerCon socket connects the speaker to the mains. The L7 118 Sub A subwoofer offers a second PowerCon socket for elegant power cabling in systems. The LINEAR 7 speakers’ state-of-the-art wide-range power supply units can be operated on all voltages between 90 and 260 volts and reliably stabilise the supply voltage, even when operating on power generators.

DSP CONTROL SOFTWARE

Extended remote controlling Until recently, only the large touring system price category made it possible to control every mid/high unit, every bass and every stage monitor centrally from the FoH position. Now, with the LINEAR 7 range, this modern and highly efficient workflow can also be achieved in top-range professional point sound sources. Every single LINEAR 7 speaker on the network can be accessed centrally via Mac or PC, and its volume, EQ, limiting, delay and polarity can be controlled in detail.

DSP-Out

One extra-special feature that is only available with the LINEAR 7 range is that an additional, non-network-compatible active speaker (e.g. from the LINEAR series) can be integrated into the network via DSP-Out and then all parameters individually remote controlled. This ensures that existing infrastructure retains its value as well as its future viability.

A fully parametric 10-band EQ, high-pass filter, low-pass filter, delay, polarity and limiting are available independently for both the speakers and DSP-Out.

LINEAR 7 110 XA

Thanks to its cabinet shape with integrated 30° slant, the LINEAR 7 110 XA active and network-compatible multifunctional speaker is also suitable for use as a transverse stage monitor. It offers a preset optimised for use as a monitor, which compensates for the overemphasis of the low frequencies caused by contact with the ground in transverse operation.

LINEAR 7 112 FA

The LINEAR 7 112 FA active and network-compatible full-range speaker delivers more sound pressure in the low-frequency range thanks to its larger cabinet volume. With the Bass Boost preset optimised for each speaker, the low-frequency range can be boosted as required.

Accessories

TB-45N

The TB-45N is a tilt bracket for mounting speaker cabinets on truss rods, ceilings, wall brackets, beams and on tripods. It is compatible with the F versions of the LINEAR 3, LINEAR 5 and LINEAR 7 speaker series. Flexible vertical and horizontal alignment is possible.

TB-45NQ

The TB-45NQ is a tilt bracket with quick-release pins for mounting speaker cabinets on truss rods, ceilings, wall brackets, beams and on tripods. It is compatible with the F versions of the LINEAR 3, LINEAR 5 and LINEAR 7 speaker series. Quick mounting on the box is guaranteed thanks to the ball lock pins. Flexible vertical and horizontal alignment is possible.

TB-28N

The TB-28N is a tilt bracket for mounting speaker cabinets on truss rods, ceilings, wall brackets, beams and on tripods. It is compatible with the XA models of the LINEAR 7 and LINEAR 9 series. Flexible vertical and horizontal alignment is possible.

Weather Protective Cover

The LINEAR 7 Weather Protective Cover is a padded rain cover for protection during transport and operation with a rollable, splash-proof and sound-permeable gauze. Thanks to the practical handle recesses, the rain cover can remain permanently on the multifunctional speaker and at the same time all connection and control panels remain accessible. Available for all mid/high units in the LINEAR 7 series.

LINEAR 7 118 SUB A Protective Cover

The Protective Cover LINEAR 7 118 Sub A is a padded transport protection cover. Thanks to the convenient handle recesses, the protective cover can remain on the subwoofer permanently during installation and dismantling.

Rear Protection Plate

The Rear Protection Plate, which is made of sturdy sheet metal, not only protects the electronics of the LINEAR 7 118 Sub A from splash water, but also from unauthorised access in Cardioid mode. Thanks to the keyholes, the wing screws only need to be loosened slightly to remove the plate. The grille required for ventilation of the electronics is backed with acoustic foam, effectively protecting connections and controls. The acoustic foam also darkens the LEDs, which is helpful in Cardioid operation on dark stages, but still allows the status of the LEDs to be seen.
