MediaTek Processors Ranking & List [2021] - Tech Centurion
Có thể bạn quan tâm
MediaTek Inc. is a semiconductor company from Taiwan and it is one of the largest smartphone chip makers in the world. MediaTek designs SOCs based on the ARM’s architecture and these chips can be seen in devices from brands like Lenovo, Moto, Nokia, Xiaomi, Oppo, ZTE, Vivo, etc.
This article lists the MediaTek Smartphone Processors and their rankings. If you want to check out the ranking of all smartphone processors, visit this link.
Though MediaTek chips have been criticized a lot in the past by reviewers, their performance has improved significantly in recent years. Many mid-range & budget SOCs such as Helio P60 and Helio P22, offer better value for money than any of their competitors.
In late 2019, MediaTek launched their Dimensity Series that is extremely powerful and can give good competition to high-end Snapdragon & Exynos chips.
To rank the processors, we use a special method that judges the performance of a chip on the basis of both the raw benchmarks as well as real-world parameters such as User Experience. By giving importance to both these factors, we calculate the Centurion Mark and rank the processors according to their scores. You can also find the ranking of Snapdragon Processors here.

How to understand the above data?
Above 125
A processor with a score higher than 110 delivers excellent performance in Gaming as well as Heavy usage. Selecting a phone with a processor from this category is highly recommended for the best user experience. Unfortunately, none of the MediaTek SOCs have crossed 110 so far.
Between 100-125
A score between 85 and 110 will result in a great performance in general use as well as gaming. If you’re buying a mid-range phone then you should target this range.
Between 70-100
In this range, the performance of SOCs is above average. But you’re unlikely to observe any lags or any other significant issues. If you have a low budget, try to get a phone that fits in this category.
Between 55-70
The general performance of these chips is below average but it is acceptable in the lower end phones. These can suffer from occasional lags as well as throttling issues.
Below 55
The performance of these chips is below par and should be avoided unless you’re buying an extremely cheap phone with a budget lower than $100.
What is Centurion Mark?
Centurion Mark is Tech Centurion’s very own method to judge the performance of hardware. To make the benchmarks meaningful and accurate, we combine the raw benchmark and real-world performance tests. Hence, Centurion Mark is derived from both automatic as well as manual testing. With such a method, we manage to achieve scores that truly reflect the performance in a real-world scenario.
Another big reason to prefer Centurion Mark is that we also deduct the score if a device suffers from issues such as throttling, lagging, and overheating. Thus, even if the specification seems great on the paper, a processor may be pushed down in the list because of its mediocre real-world performance. Hence, many of the processors will have a different rank on Centurion Mark when compared to some other benchmarking tool.
How do we calculate Centurion Mark?
Centurion Mark is determined by testing the processors on over 20 different parameters. Some of these parameters such as User Experience and Raw CPU Performance have a significant impact on the score while there are some minor parameters as well that make a little difference (For example, Dual VoLTE Support). These are the 5 major factors that influence Centurion Mark:
- User Experience
- Real-World Performance
- Raw CPU Performance
- Raw GPU Performance
- Features and Technologies Present

Helio X Series
The MediaTek Helio X Series was the flagship series for high-end smartphones. This series is equivalent to the Snapdragon 800 series.
Unfortunately, MediaTek hasn’t released any new SOC after the launch of X30 in early 2017. Hence, we cannot compare the Helio X series with the latest generation processors of Qualcomm, Samsung or HiSilicon Kirin.
Processor Name | Codename | GPU | Fabrication Process | CPU | Memory | Devices |
Helio X30 | MT6799 | IMG PowerVR 7XTP-MT4 | 10nm FinFET | 2x Cortex-A73 @ 2.5 GHz + 4x Cortex-A53 @ 2.2 GHz + 4x Cortex-A35 @ 1.9 GHz | Quad-Channel LPDDR4X | Meizu Pro 7, Meizu Pro 7 Plus, Elephone X8, Vernee Apollo 2 |

One highlight of this series is that the processors have 10 cores (except X10) and their cores are divided into three clusters. Processors from other brands generally have 2 clusters at max but MediaTek has pushed the limits to achieve even higher power efficiency.
Though the raw performance of the Helio X series is impressive, the GPU performance is not that impressive. The most common GPU on this series (Mali-T880 MP4) is slightly better than the mid-range Adreno 506 GPU by Qualcomm.
Helio P Series
The Helio P Series is one of the most exciting series of MediaTek which delivers great performance for the mid-range segment. The Helio P60 and P70 are two really powerful chipsets that provide a lot more value for money than any of their competitors.
However, once again, the GPU is the downside of this series. Mali-G72 MP3 falls short when compared with the Adreno 512 and Adreno 509 of Snapdragon 660 and 636 respectively.

Helio A Series
The Helio A is the latest series that aims at great performance and efficiency at the lower budget segment. The Helio A22 is the first processor of this series and it comes with impressive features such as Bluetooth 5.0 and LPDDR4X Memory.
Processor Name | Codename | GPU | Fabrication | CPU | Memory | Devices |
Helio A25 | PowerVR GE8320 at 600 MHz | 12nm FinFET | 4x Cortex-A53 @ 1.5 GHz + 4x Cortex-A53 @ 1.8 GHz | Dual-Channel LPDDR4X | ||

Helio A20 | IMG PowerVR GE8300 at 550 MHz | 12nm FinFET | 4x Cortex-A53 @ 1.8 GHz | Dual-Channel LPDDR4X |
Helio A22 is very power efficient due to the 12nm FinFET Process Node.
Low to Mid-range Chipsets
These midrange chipsets are some old MediaTek Processors that support 4G connectivity. Among all the four processors we tested, the performance was disappointing. These chips suffer from throttling and may lag in heavy usage. We will not recommend you to buy a phone running on any of these chips.
