What is Mobile Security Key?
Mobile Security Key in the HSBC HK Business Express mobile app turns your mobile phone into a security device for a straight-through logon to your company account on both Business Internet Banking and the mobile app. You can logon and approve transactions even faster by enabling biometric authentication*.

Get started
Activate Mobile Security Key
By Password, identity document and selfie- Download and open HSBC HK Business Express mobile app
- Enter your username, select the ‘Password, identity document and selfie’ option, then enter your password
- Select ‘Continue’ on ‘Start using your Mobile Security Key’ page or go to ‘More’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Activate Mobile Security Key’ > ‘Continue’
- Enter your identification details registered with the bank
- Enter your personal information
- Select ‘Continue’ and proceed to verify your identity with your HKID / Passport / PRC Resident ID Card
- Take a photo of your original HKID / Passport / PRC Resident ID Card against a plain background with good lighting
- Take a selfie video against a plain background with good lighting
- Create a 6-digit PIN for mobile log on and complete verification to activate Mobile Security Key
- Download and open HSBC HK Business Express mobile app
- Enter your username, select the ‘Password and security device’ option, then enter your password and security code
- Select ‘Continue’ on ‘Start using your Mobile Security Key’ page or go to ‘More’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Activate Mobile Security Key’ > ‘Continue’
- On the security device, press and hold the green button for 2 seconds, enter your PIN then press yellow button once, enter your 8-digital verification code and press yellow button again
- Enter the 6-digit security code displayed on the security device into ‘enter security code’ to continue
- Create a 6-digit PIN for mobile log on and complete verification to activate Mobile Security Key

Transfer Mobile Security Key from my old mobile device to new mobile device- Download and open HSBC HK Business Express mobile app
- Go to the logon screen and enter your username
- Select the ‘Activate this device with existing Mobile Security Key’
- Enter your password
- Follow the instructions to allow push notification on your old device
- Enter SMS verification code to complete the verification.
- Download and open HSBC HK Business Express mobile app
- Enter your username, select the ‘Password and verification code sent by SMS and email’ option, then enter your password, SMS and email verification code to verify
- Select ‘Continue’ on ‘Start using your Mobile Security Key’ page or go to ‘More’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Activate Mobile Security Key’ > ‘Continue’
- Choose the profile for Mobile Security Key activation
- Follow the instructions shown to verify your mobile number and email address
- Create a 6-digit PIN for mobile log on and complete verification to activate Mobile Security Key

Activate Biometric Authentications
Face ID/Touch ID- Enter your Mobile Security Key PIN to log on mobile app
- Go to ‘More’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’
- Select ‘Activate Face ID’ or ‘Activate Touch ID’ depending on your mobile device model
- Select ‘Enable Face ID’ then look at your device. Or touch the Home button to enable Touch ID
- Face ID/Touch ID is enabled. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful activation
- Enter your Mobile Security Key PIN to log on mobile app
- Go to ‘More’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Activate Fingerprint ID’
- Select ‘Enable Fingerprint ID’ then touch the sensor to enable Android™ Fingerprint ID
- Fingerprint ID is enabled. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful activation

Frequently asked questions
How can I access multiple company profiles with one username and Mobile Security Key?When you have multiple company profiles and Business Internet Banking (BIB) usernames, you can choose to access multiple profiles with one username. You'll need to activate Mobile Security Key for your chosen username. To learn how to activate Mobile Security Key, please see our Mobile Security Key user guide.
After you've activated Mobile Security Key for your chosen username, you can add company profiles to that username so to access multiple profiles at the same time. To learn how to add profiles, please see our user guide on adding profiles.
You'll be able to access all profiles added to your chosen username after 8 a.m. on the next day by logging on to BIB with Mobile Security Key. Once you have added a company profile to your chosen username, you will no longer be able to access it with its original username.
I have previously enabled biometric authentication in the HSBC HK Business Express mobile app. Can I continue to log on using fingerprint or facial recognition?Yes, biometric authentication is now tied in with the Mobile Security Key. Simply confirm your Face ID/Touch ID/Fingerprint ID after activating Mobile Security Key. It not only allows you to use fingerprint or facial recognition to log on to the HSBC HK Business Express mobile app, but also simplifying access to a wider range of Business Internet Banking services.
What should I do if my mobile device with the Mobile Security Key activated is lost or broken?You can log on to the HSBC HK Business Express mobile app using another device, go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Security’ > ‘Deactivate other devices’, and then deactivate the Mobile Security Key of the lost or broken mobile device.

I have previously activated the Mobile Security Key on my mobile device, which is now jailbroken or rooted. Why can't I access the HSBC HK Business Express mobile app anymore and what should I do?Since your mobile device is now jailbroken or rooted, it may be less secure and is at higher risk for fraudulent transactions. To protect your account security, you are no longer allowed to use the HSBC Business HK Express mobile app on this device.
To continue using our mobile banking services, please remove the Mobile Security Key from the jailbroken/rooted device and reactivate the Mobile Security Key on another non-jailbroken/rooted device. Please contact us at (852) 2748 8288 for further assistance.
Can I receive notifications for Business Internet Banking logon requests when I am outside Hong Kong?You can receive notifications for Business Internet Banking logon requests in most countries and regions, except when you use Android mobile devices in mainland China. If my fingerprint or face is not recognised in the HSBC HK Business Express mobile app, can I still log on to my account using my Mobile Security Key PIN?Yes. Your Mobile Security Key PIN is always supported, allowing you to switch between using Touch ID/Face ID/Fingerprint ID and your Mobile Security Key PIN.
If I have a new mobile device, how can I activate Mobile Security Key on my new device?Log on HSBC HK Business Express mobile app with your new device, you will need to input your username, password, an identity document and a selfie or an SMS and email verification code or a security code during your first logon. Once you have logged on, you will be able to activate your Mobile Security Key. There is a simpler way to activate if you have already activated your Mobile Security Key on another device, please refer to Switching Mobile Security Key to new device guide (PDF, 568KB) for details.
