Krycek K I have the VW Navigation AS (Europe V3) SD Card, I last did an update on 25.7.2019 to version 5NA.919.866.AG 1310 ECE AS 2020 which went through fine. Tried to do an update today to 5NA.919.866.BK 1730 ECE AS 2022, the installer gets to 97% then gives an error Error during extraction of archive file - An error occurred during reading or saving the file into the specified folder Now when I try the update again it says I already have the current version so I tried the Nav but I get an error Is it best to wipe the SD and reinstall or will that totally screw it up? If so, It could be a problem with the latest full European map being too large for the VW SD card. You could try downloading one of the smaller area maps and see if that is accepted. #3 · Aug 4, 2021 Yes it is the Discover Media system. I just opened the Discover Care application and it automatically found the latest maps, I couldn't see an option to download anything else. I have emailed my local dealer for assistance anyway #4 · Aug 4, 2021 (Edited by Moderator) I should have said that if you are using the VW Discover Care app, that can throw up random errors. You are better off downloading from https://app-connect.volkswagen.com/mapupdates/car/#download directly and extracting it onto your SD card. Although, as I said the full European map may be too big for your card. #5 · Aug 11, 2021 (Edited) I purchased a 64gb SD Card and formatted as FAT32 then tried manually moving the files as suggested but still get an error saying "Please insert a data medium with valid navigation data". I get the same when using the Discover Care app For reference the installed files are called Mib1,Mib2 and metadata I've also emailed the we connect support team to see what they say Any other suggestions? #6 · Aug 11, 2021 (Edited by Moderator) Yes, I have other suggestions! The SD card must be a VW card, you cannot use any old SD card. Your original 15GB card that came with the car should be ample, so long as you choose one of the smaller section European maps. The SD card must be cleared of all previous data before you start the map download. I assume you extracted the data that was downloaded off the internet because that arrives in compressed form which your car wouldn't recognise. You need 7-zip software for that, which your computer may already have. Hope there are some useful pointers there, good luck! #7 · Aug 11, 2021 Yes the data was extracted first before copying You mention that I cannot use any SD Card but the Discover Care App gives two options 1. Update for systems with original VW SD Card 2. Update for systems without VW SD Card You mention to choose one of the smaller European maps but after choosing my car and year I can only find 1 big one at 27gb, where are these smaller maps? #8 · Aug 11, 2021 The Discover Pro version can accept any SD card but the Discover Media setup can only use VW cards. Don't know where you are finding a map that is 27GB. If you follow my previous link to the maps site and chose Golf then Golf from 2015 then Discover Media after which you will see several maps. Europe Bundle 1 is about 15gb in size, and Bundle 2, which I use, is only about 6.5gb in size. #16 · Jan 25, 2022 Hi do you have the link that offers the different bundles. On the app-connect web link it is only offering me full Europe or the other world maps and I need the smaller bundle 2. Thanks 0 Reply #9 · Aug 12, 2021 Thanks for the suggestions. I've got it updated now with the original 16gb SD CARD and the smaller map at 6.7gb #10 · Nov 19, 2021 Hi, I have exactly same problem. Only problem is that there is no smaller version with my country (Poland). Please advise what can be done in that case? #11 · Nov 19, 2021 The VW map update page is currently not working, so I cannot check which maps contain which countries. However, if you cannot find a smaller map with Poland on it, you can always get a bigger SD card from your VW dealer and then download the full European map. #12 · Nov 20, 2021 By "get a bigger SD" you mean buy ;)? I found a solution on some other forum which is this: 1. Download the map 7z file manually without using wincare software 2. Uzip it to hardisk 3. Delete the folders inside maps/00/sds/, all except for the language you want to use 4. Now copy maps folder to the card. It will fit the card now, but of course you won't have other languages #13 · Nov 21, 2021 A worthwhile tip, if it works. But in answer to your original question, the smaller section European maps do include Poland. On the German VW site at https://www.volkswagen.de/de/besitzer-und-nutzer/myvolkswagen/navigation-map-update.html you will find variant 3 and 4 both include Poland. You do, however, need a VW account to get the maps off the German site. #14 · Nov 24, 2021 I thought all German car sat nav systems defaulted to Poland... #15 · Nov 24, 2021 I'm very glad I didn't say that, wait untill the admin guys spot that infringement - oh wait you are one. 😇 #17 · Jan 25, 2022 The link to the updated map bundles can be found earlier in this thread, but here it is anyway. https://app-connect.volkswagen.com/mapupdates/car/#downloadYou select your car type first, then in the drop down menu select the year of manufacture, then you have to select your navigation system type and then you are presented with various options of European maps. #18 · Jan 27, 2022

Interesting solution. But before proceeding, do you know what implications are when a language has been deleted. Foor example, if I delete Spanish, will that impact info provided by the navigation unit when I drive in Spain ? #19 · Jul 27, 2022 I have a 2017 Passat blue motion, such a difficulty I had updating it, I had on the Mac even after the apps they got me to download to help install and unzip weren’t as useful as expected. The zip file opener worked to a certain degree but the clean drive wouldn’t work whatsoever, and I had to use Mac operating system to actually format the SD Card in the required format, so much for the information that comes with the software to update it. Most of it is out of date and not up to scratch. After wiping the card completely clean using Mac Disk Utility, I then updated the ca rd on the Mac using drag and drop, as I tried other methods and none of them worked, (one of which was VW’s own software). Please make this more user friendly or with proper instructions and for different operating systems to the Mac/Windows update systems, as each system is different. And what does one system may not do another. Once I placed the drag and drop software maps download on my card I hoped it worked and by chance it did. But that was a scary time for me. if only VW could make the system more user friendly as I had to download the certain software for my computer and it wasn’t relevant for my operating system and one of them I had to pay for. #20 · Oct 28, 2023 Where can I find DiscoverCare? I tried getting it from so many places, 0 luck? Insert Quotes Post Reply
