NemBo N Hello everyone, I recently bought 2017 Arteon, unfortunately there is no VW SD card inside the unit and the navigation is not starting at all, so I am wondering if I could simply use some other SD card for the maps installation/update? Is it necessary only for the installation or it must stay inside at all times? 113597

I think if you hold menu down for 5-10 seconds, you get the service menu, (This is on the Discover pro, so maybe the same for yours) from there you can pick update, and point it to your internal USB stick which you have already downloaded and unzipped the official VW maps for. Beware, it takes HOURS to update, needs the ignition on, and you CANNOT start the engine during the process if the battery is going flat. So, either connect a charger, or make sure the battery is 100% before you update. Oh sorry I misread, your maps dont load at all? I am sure the Discover pro stores the maps on the HD and does not require an SD card, I am not sure about the other Nav models in the range. Ahh I just checked, the Pro Navs run off the internal drive, and you load the maps onto it from SD or USB, the NON-Pro version (yours) you need to get a VW SD with maps, or maybe format your own SD card, and unzip the maps onto it.
