I had previously upgraded from the stock speakers to some American-made Eminence Wizard speakers. They have a great sound in this amp and I used them for both recording and gigging over several years, but at 103 dB, they’re very efficient and loud speakers. I’m switching to a pair of 100 dB speakers-Celestion’s Vintage 30 and G12H30 70th Anniversary in order to tame this 50 Watt bad boy a little bit. Have you got a favorite speaker or speaker combination you like to use or a speaker swap story you’d like to share?Brek

Although i am trying to talk myself out of 2 g10 greenbacks for a little marshall stack I bought, already binned the stock mg15ii's that were in, presently rocking a creamback g10 and a vintage g10.dmac in SC

The current setup is too harsh for me and my preferred style of music. I like Blues, 70s Rock, Allman Bros. , et al. Want to make an informed decision as to which speakers to buy. I have heard the Warehouse British Lead, Celestion Greenbacks, Creambacks, and Vintage 30s through sound bites online and recordings. Rely a lot on others reviews for purchases. Ffrater106

I would say they are closest to Blackbacks just like the G12M25 Reissue greenback actually sounds way closer to Blackbacks, than the pulsonic greenbacks. Even after lots of break in, they can be really piercing in the mids/highs (I actually damaged my hearing in one ear playing a pair of 70th at high volumes for extended time periods- be careful). I prefer the 70th annis paired with a G12M to lose the harsh edge. 70th/V30 is a nice combo too with some amps (Rivera, Orange, Mesa) The Heritage H mag series (g12H30 75hz/G12H30 55hz) are better* at copping the old 70s Orange (75hz) or Marshall (55Hz) tones and are much less harsh than the 70th anniversary series. I've settled on the 55Hz as my fave H mag speaker (see the avatar over there <<<<<-------------) It's got better clarity and some sizzle at the very top, extended lows, and plenty of of thick mids without getting overbearing like the 75HZ do. Keep in mind, I'm running Marshalls, loud when I use/d them ,and this is all IMHO< yadda yadda yadda. * better, not exact.JPP

I am using two 2 x 12 cabinets. Cabinet 1. equipped with 2 Celestions Heritage G12H, 55Hz, 30 Watts. I bought them when they were released. Cabinet 2. equipped with 2 Celestions Vintage 30th originally made in England. I can´t remember exactly but they must be over 20 years old. It can be used as closed or open back. I am using a modified Mesa Boogie Lonestar (10/50/100 W selectable) optimized for EL34th. This combination gives me all the versatility I need depending on venue and sound requirement. I prefer to use both cabinets in combination. Cabinet 2. in open back configuration. I am mainly a Les Paul player. 1968 LP Custom on my avatar. For me this is the best sounding combination compared to my HIWATT 100Watt amplifier and two Orange 4 x 12 cabinets I was using from 1968 to 1973. I still regret to have sold this combination to replace it for something more modern . Z

YMMV The oversize 2x12 on the left has the Celestion Vintage 30 & G12H30 70th Anniversary combo, same as the OP. I like it a lot. Both Marshall 1960 Vintage 4x12's have Marshall branded V30's.....awesome as well. Maybe a tad muddy overall for my taste, but I still really like them. This 90's Avatar 2x12 has G12T-75's. I like them. They pair well with Marshall's for 80's & 90's Metal. I tried putting a V30 in with the G12T-75 and didn't like it as much as the pair of G12T-75's, but I only tried it with the little Joyo so.....?Central Scrutinizer said: I am on the fence as to what to speakers to replace the Celestion G12T75 in a used Marshall 1936 Lead cabinet. I might be interested in your G12T-75's if you decide to sell them.

Joined May 19, 2021 Messages 541 Reaction score 1,025 My rig started life as just a Katana MkII head and 2x12 with Boss speakers in it. I eventually added a Marshall DSL 20, a Peavey 6505MH and a EVH LBX II. The speakers needed a change so just this week I swapped them to WGS Veteran 30s. Huge difference, much better. Ffrater106

Joined May 25, 2010 Messages 445 Reaction score 326 Well, I ended up feeling like the G12H30 70th Anniversary and Vintage 30 combo. was a bit bright. I sold the Vintage 30 and will be replacing it with the 55 HZ Heritage G12H30, I think-only the 75 Hz one I found on sale for 75% the cost of a 55 Hz-so, I may cheap out. Lol. Ffrater106
