Joined May 13, 2010 Messages 6 Hello everyone, I searched for BPZ8H-S-10 but didn't turn up much of what I was looking for. I am 2 weeks into owning my first pontoon, a 2000 Party Barge 18' with a 2001 Mercury 50 ELPTO. We've taken the boat out three times so far and it runs great. The last time out, it started to feel like it had a **slight** miss but once back to the trailer I figured out the vent on my fuel tank wasn't open. The other 2 times out it ran flawless and I do remember screwing down the vent on the fuel cap while at the house prior to taking the boat out. Why? I don't know, just messing with stuff. I'm thinking it was getting a little lean due to the negative pressure in the top of the tank and the engine was trying to let me know. So anyway, for good measure, I look up the correct plugs for the engine as I'm used to dirt bike 2-stokes and replacing plugs very often so I figure it couldn't hurt. I find that the BPZ8H-N-10 is the correct plug for this engine and that NGK is very proud of their marine plugs. When I go to change the plugs out, I find that the previous owner had installed the BPZ8H-S-10 plugs. From what I can tell, these are meant for 135, 150, 175, 200 etc.. HP 2-stroke Mercury engines. What I am really after is what is the difference in the plugs? I'm not really concerned that anything has gone wrong, but I can't find the info on each plug part number. Would it be worth it to keep these BPZ8H-S-10 around on the boat as spares as they still look usable (not black / fouled), or should I grab another set of the BPZ8H-N-10? Thank you all!!! -RussCornphlake

I'll keep these BPZ8H-S-10 plugs on-hand as spares. You must log in or register to reply here. Share: Facebook Twitter Reddit Pinterest Tumblr WhatsApp Email Share Link- Home
