Hi,

I have PRE FL Octavia and I see an amber colour steering wheel icon on dashboard.

Below is the VCDS log.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Address 44: Steering Assist        Labels: 1Kx-909-14x-44.clb    Part No: 1K2 909 144 M    Component: EPS_ZFLS Kl.069 H08 1901      Shop #: WSC 02069 000 90108    VCID: 3665569A413017AE711-8063   1 Fault Found: 00573 - Steering Torque Sensor (G269)              008 - Implausible Signal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After clearing fault, fault pops up again after turning ignition off/on.   Reading forums suggested turning steering left/right/centre and driving @ 20KMH, I tried but it didn't help :(   Measuring Block Group 001 torque value changes as I turn the steering and Group 004 says Term15 on.   Power steering is working fine but its not as free as it should be.   Request your expert advice to fix this issue.    Thanks, Abdul quincythequill Newbie

Hi Abdul,

Did you happen to find a solution to your problem? I have exactly the same issue . I have compared my car with another of the same era and the numbers are mostly identical when viewing the live data. My problem started after having done a gearbox repair. Ihave performed all and any of the initialisation proceedures found on the Ross Tech wiki etc but the fault remains. I have been able to stop the steering assist from functioning (heavy steering) by changing settings and then make it function again. This seems to be the million dollar question for VW.

Where is  Steering Torque Sensor (G269) located?

The error code that you're getting is for the torque sensor (G269), not the steering angle sensor (G85).

From the Ross Tech Wiki:

Possible Causes
  • Steering Assist Power Supply (Terminal 15) faulty
  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Steering Torque Sensor (G269) faulty
  • Steering Torque Sensor (G269) faulty

From a different Ross Tech Wiki page:

Turn the Steering Wheel multiple times completely to the left and right. The Torque Values should change. If the Torque Values do change, it's most likely an intermittent Fault in the Wiring/Connectors. If the Torque Values do NOT change, the Sensor itself or the Power Supply (Terminal 15) might be faulty.   Your original post staid that the "torque value changes as I turn the steering" - so a thorough check of the wiring/connectors of the torque sensor is probably a good idea.   The torque sensor is mounted where the steering column meets the rack.  This PDF has more details of the steering system.   If it is the torque sensor itself, then the bad news is that the PDF linked to above says: "The Steering Torque Sensor G269 is integrated into the steering gear assembly and cannot be replaced separately."- which means a rack change would be required. virgo79 Enthusiast

I have the same problem, it started after some strut of my car were changed, actually nothing in common with the steering rack.

What I did: 1 clear the error

2  Turn the Steering Wheel multiple times completely to the left and right (the car's engine is on)

The error reappeared after 10 km

Yesterday I did the same.

1 clear the error 2 I checked all the fuses, pulled the steering wheel fuse out and put it back on. (during the steering wheel fuse was out the car was completely turned off and the key removed)

3 Turn the Steering Wheel multiple times completely to the left and right. (the car's engine is on)

So far the error has not appeared I drove about 20 km.  🤞  If it comes up again I think to look for where this terminal 15 is and see if it can be repaired after cleaning or something like that. Аnd if that doesn't help then I'll have to change the steering rack.  😓

I think replacing the rack part will fix the issue as the Torque Sensor compartment couldn't be disassembled, at least in my 2009.

    Smoking 1.6 engine

Rsedmonds · 23 November, 202523 Nov Hi guys, I’m new to the forum after buying a cheap pick up with a 1.6 engine swap with a plan to slowly get it back on the road and do some learning on the way. So with that said I’ll start with the issues I see and slowly (with your help) work my way through them. Firstly it smokes, it’s starts slowly but as the engine warms up the smoke gets heavier. It’s white smoke with a sweet smell. But the cylinders are covered in oil (picture below) is this what I’d expect to see with a blown cylinder he

    Rear windows fogging

bynov · 5 hours ago5 hr Hi everyone, I’m having a persistent fogging issue with my 2023 Scala. When it’s just two of us, it’s manageable—only a bit of fog on the rear window during rain or snow. However, with 4–5 people in the car, all the rear and side windows fog up completely, and no climate setting seems to fix it. I typically just using AC on Auto mode trying to not differ too much from the outside (temperature wise). Is this a known issue with the Scala, or does it sound like a defect? I’m particularly suspicio
