Before we get started with the Washlet reviews, I want to inform you that all of the Toto Washlets in this guide are for elongated toilets. If you have a round toilet, there are other electric toilet bidet seat models available that cost less and offer similar functionality to a Washlet.

With that out of the way, you most likely noticed that the most premium features are only available in the top-of-the-line Toto Washlet models, including the S550e. The key consideration is the jump in price from one unit to another. You’ll notice that Toto tends to make its price increments larger for fewer features as the features become more exclusive.

One last note to consider is that Toto Washlets are made to use with your existing elongated toilet or a new toilet. If you’re looking for an electronic bidet toilet combo, then a Toto toilet with a Washlet seat is a better option than a standalone bidet seat.

In each section below, I share my reviews along with the pros and cons of each Washlet.

#1) Toto S550e

The Toto S550e Washlet is the most feature-rich of the bunch. Firstly, the two key features it offers that none of the other models in my Top 5 include are a night light and an auto open-close seat & lid. This might not sound like much when you look at the price jump from the K300 to the S55oe, but it’s important to consider how amazing the auto open-close lid and seat are. The lid automatically detects your presence. Once it opens, the Washlet begins its pre-mist cycle to prohibit any waste from sticking to the bowl.

Once you sit down, the included remote allows you to jump right into your preferred settings or customize the options to your liking. The remote saves up to 2 user settings. Settings include a heated seat with full temperature control, automatic air deodorizer, warm air dryer, auto flushing, and of course, the bidet nozzle does all the cleaning for you.

The reason the S550e is the best Toto Washlet is that it offers a 100% hands-free experience with the automatic lid. No other available Washlet offers the same 100% hands-free experience.

Another feature I’m fond of that’s only offered in Toto Washlets and premium toilets is the eWater+ electrolyzed water system. The eWater+ system makes electrolyzed water, which is a chemical-free alternative for disinfecting. Additionally, the bidet uses eWater+ for both rear and front washing for the ultimate hygienic experience.

The last two S550e features I want to highlight are the tankless, instantaneous heated water and wide front cleanse option. Only the S550e and K300 units in this guide offer endless heated water for washing.

A common problem with inferior bidets is they run out of warm water in the winter in a minute or less. With the S550e, you get endless warm water for bidet washing. Lastly, the wide front spray pattern for feminine washing is only available in the S550e.

When you take all of the above points into consideration, it’s easy to see why the S55oe costs the most and is the most desirable model.

Cons

• Installation is not easy for everyone (may require plumber’s tape, and there’s a need to be careful to avoid cross threading with your existing plumbing fixtures to prevent leaks)
• Several failed unit reports after 1 year (the warranty is 1-year)
• The night light only triggers when seated

#2) Toto K300

Once you go from the S550e to the K300, the cost drops significantly. As I mentioned in the previous section, the key missing features in the K300 compared to the S550e are no night light, no auto open-close lid & seat, no wide front cleanse, no pulsating cleanse, and no eWater+ system.

Considering all of those features step into extravagance territory and beyond necessity, you might find that they’re unnecessary. For me, the toughest loss is the auto open-close lid, but is it worth paying nearly double? At the time of this writing, the S55oe costs almost double the K300.

Outside of those missing features above, you still get all the most pertinent features, including the heated seat, air dryer, deodorizer, air dryer, and full automatic bidet functionality for front and rear washing. The most important feature that only the K300 and S550e offer is endless warm water. If you live in a cold climate, you may find that the K300 is the better option for you if endless warm water is a necessary feature.

When compared to the following models in my guide, the K300 offers the best value for the money for people living in cold climates. If you live in a warmer climate and are unconcerned about endless hot water, the C100 gives the best value for the money.

All in all, the K300 Washlet and S550e are essentially the same models besides the missing features in the K300. One slight difference I did notice is the S550e is slightly shorter by about .3″ making it more low-profile than the K300. However, the width and length to fit elongated bowls are the same between the two models.

#3) Toto C100

Why did I choose the C100 over the C200? For the money, the C100 is a better unit. The problem I have with the C200 – while I do think it’s an awesome toilet seat bidet – is the K300 is flat-out better for nearly the same price at the time of this writing. Back to the C100, it costs significantly less than both the S550e and K300.

First, the most important factor to keep in mind is the maximum height of the C100 and C200 models compared to the S55oe and K300. The C models have a maximum height of 9″ at the back of the seat. Hence, it’s hard to realize how tall they truly are just by looking at photos. Having said that, the max height occurs at the back of the seat, and once you install the unit, it’s not something that negatively impacts the bidet experience.

Overall, the C100 is a step up from the bare-bones A100 model, and in reality, the extra cost is worth it. Compared to the K300, the C100 Washlet offers all of the same core Washlet features minus the tankless warm water supply and remote control, which may or may not be a dealbreaker. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the control panel sticking out from the side of the seat, however, some people prefer it that way to avoid dropping a remote on a hard bathroom floor.

Toto Washlet A100 vs C100

Features that are offered in the C100 and not the A100 are air deodorization, a warm air dryer, and the pre-mist function. Also, the max height of the A100 is 7.4″ compared to 9″ with the C100 and C200 models.

Pros

• Includes all the most pertinent luxury bidet features for a fraction of the cost of the S550e
• The heated seat is nice to have, particularly during the winter months
• Ample warm water supply, despite not being tankless
• Easy installation (done in under an hour)
• The C100 offers the best value for the money
• The materials feel premium, no cheap plastic parts here
• Ample bidet water pressure

Cons

• No programmable user settings
• The opening might feel too small to larger individuals
• Front washing might not feel as accurate compared to the more premium Washlets

#4) Toto C200

Coming in at number four on my list is the popular C200 Washlet. As I mentioned earlier in the comparison, the C200 costs roughly the same as the K300, yet the K300 is a better overall bidet seat with additional premium features. The drawback is the K300 is not compatible with existing WASHLET+ Toto toilets. So, if you’re looking to upgrade an existing WASHLET+ toilet or replace an old unit, then the C200 might be your best option. Alternatively, if you’re looking to upgrade your existing elongated toilet with a Washlet, then the K300 is the clear winner.

Toto Washlet C100 vs C200

Outside of the significantly higher cost of the C200 compared to the C100, there are only a couple of key differences between the two models. Firstly, the biggest difference is the C100 features an integrated control panel, while the C200 offers remote control. Secondly, the C200 offers two programmable user settings while the C100 offers no programmable settings.

The other missing feature in the C100 is the pulsating cleanse. Thus, it’s easy to see why the C100 offers better value since pulsating cleanse is not worth double the price. The decision comes down to your preference between using a remote or integrated panel, and of course, the programmable user settings. Lastly, the C100 and C200 have the exact same dimensions with a 9″ maximum height at the back of the seat.

Pros

• The bidet sprayer is super accurate for achieving a complete clean
• Programmable user settings are a good reason to choose the C200 over the C100
• Temperature and pressure settings are fully adjustable and eliminate the need for TP
• The deodorizing carbon filter works really well for eliminating odors
• Self-cleaning nozzles mean no unwanted debris on the most important part of the seat

• Avoid the round version because it’s too small for most adults

#5) Toto A100

The A100 is the bare-bones model of the bunch and the cheapest Toto Washlet. The three features missing in this unit compared to the C100 are the pre-mist function, air dryer, and air deodorizer. Compared to the price increments between the top-of-the-line models, the difference in cost between the C100 and A100 is much smaller. Once you get down to the A100, you might want to consider other heated bidet toilet seats that cost less.

However, Toto is clearly the best in the business, and the A100 offers a full range of the most important features for an optimal bidet experience. Collectively, the A100 features a heated seat, warm water washing, side control panel, SoftClose seat & lid, oscillating cleanse, and self-cleaning bidet nozzle. These are all the necessary features to eliminate the need for TP, and considering the A100 costs about 4x less than the S550e, it’s a great way to embark on the Toto Washlet lifestyle without forking out a bundle.

How do I install Toto Washlet?

In most cases, installing a Toto Washlet does not require a professional plumber. Below, I outline the steps to install your new Washlet:

Since most Washlets are not a small investment, it’s important to consider how long one will last. While the answer varies, with proper care, a Washlet should last indefinitely. It’s not uncommon for a Washlet to function smoothly for 10+ years. And by that time, you might want to upgrade anyway. Also, Toto does offer a 1-year warranty to ensure you don’t get stuck with a lemon.

What is the warranty on Toto Washlet?

As mentioned above, the warranty on Toto Washlets is a 1-year limited warranty. Don’t get confused by Toto’s 3-year warranty that covers Electronic Flush Valves, Faucets, and Soap Dispensers.

Can Toto Washlets be repaired?

If you experience manufacturer defects within the warranty period, then yes, your Washlet can be repaired or replaced by Toto.
