Turbo Gin and Tonic

Gin, coffee and tonic combine to boost the depth and flavour of the G&T.

The Turbo G&T fuses three of London’s most loved liquids into an enticing, energising cocktail that promises to brighten up your eyes as it loosens up your limbs.

1 serving

• 35 ml Gin
• 15 ml Cold Brew Coffee
• 150 ml Tonic Water

1. Pour the gin over ice into a Collins glass. Add the cold brew coffee, then top up with tonic water.
2. Garnish with a long lemon peel.

Combining cold brew with the beautiful botanicals of gin and the gentle bitterness of tonic creates a tall, tart treat of a cocktail that is well placed to combat that feeling Friday night fans know all to well: complete and utter elation about the start of the weekend coupled with overwhelming exhaustion.

Top tips  

We recommend either using a classic gin or a citrus forward gin in a Turbo G&T – the coffee wants to dominate the mix and you need either some fresh acidity or big punchy juniper core to balance it out. For example, gins like Martin Miller’s Westbourne Strength, Fords or Tanqueray Export Strength are good options to begin mixing with here.

Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coffee in cold water overnight and as such picks up none of the acidity that you’d expect from a cup of joe. Instead it brings a rich caffeine dose that is naturally sweet and smooth. You can make it home, but most supermarkets and coffee shops will now also sell a pre-made version.

Our version of the Turbo G&T was inspired by bespoke cocktail serves being made during London Coffee festival. 

It was just one of the cocktails that we showcased at Junipalooza 2016 and in the following months, the drink went on to grow international reputation, being featured in dozens of magazines.
