• How do I clean my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier?

  To properly clean your humidifier, follow the processes of scale removal and disinfecting.

  Scale Removal:

  1. Turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord. Wait 20-30 minutes for the unit to cool.
  2. Remove Water Tank and empty.
  3. Disassemble the Mist Chimney by gently pushing on the blue release latch and pulling upwards.
  4. Remove Removable Tray by pushing on the blue Removable Tray Lift Tab and gently pulling the tab upwards.
  5. Fill Water Tank and Base with 1 cup of vinegar.
  6. Wipe Mist Chimney, Medicine Cup, and Removable Tray with the solution.
  7. Soak Heating Element for 15-20 minutes then gently scrub with a soft brush to remove mineral deposits. Do not use hard brushes, steel wool, or other hard abrasives.
  8. Rinse Tank, Base, Mist Chimney, Removable Tray, and Medicine Cup until the smell of the solution is gone. Do not immerse the base in water.
  9. To clean the scent pad area, gently wipe out the scent pad heater area with a soft damp cloth; do not use vinegar or bleach solution here.

  Disinfecting (after scale removal):

  1. Add 1 teaspoon of bleach to 1 gallon (3.8L) water.
  2. Add 1/2 to 3/4 gallon (1.9L-2.8L) of water/bleach solution to the heating element area of the Main Housing and Water Tank.
  3. Follow steps 6 and 7 from the scaling section (page 7).

• Why is my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier not producing mist?

  If little or no mist is produced, the possible causes are:

  • No water in Tank - Fill Water Tank.
  • Unit is not level - Place on a level surface.
  • Mineral deposits on Heater Element or Removable Tray - Follow Cleaning Instructions on Pages 6-8.
  • Water Tank was washed with detergent - Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

• Why is my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier not working?

  If your humidifier is not working properly, check the following:

  • If the Power Switch is set to "On" and Nightlight is off, the unit may not be plugged in, or there might be no power at the outlet. Plug the unit in, and check circuits, fuses, and test the outlet.
  • If there is little or no mist produced, check if there's no water in the Tank (fill it), if the unit is not level (place on a level surface), if there are mineral deposits on the Heater Element or Removable Tray (follow cleaning instructions), or if the Water Tank was washed with detergent (rinse thoroughly with clean water).
  • If the Reset Light is illuminated, the Water Tank is empty or the unit was not reset after refill. Refill the Water Tank and follow the Reset Procedure.

• What does the red light on my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier indicate?

  The red light (referred to as the refill light or reset light) illuminates when your humidifier is out of water or the water tank is empty.

• What type of water should I use in my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier?

  You should fill the Tank with cool water. Do not fill it with warm or hot water.

  If your humidifier is leaking water, it may be because the Tank is leaking or the Tank Cap is not tight. You should check the Tank for leaks and replace if necessary or tighten the Tank Cap.

• Can I add essential oils to my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier?

  No, you should not add any medications into the Chimney, Base, Reservoir or Water Tank. You should also not add liquid inhalants or any additives other than those recommended by the humidifier manufacturer to the water, as doing so can have adverse effects on the humidifier.

• Is the Vicks WarmMist Humidifier safe to use in a baby's room?

  This product produces HOT STEAM and should be placed in an area not accessible to children or pets with the power cord securely out of reach. Additionally, scent pads are not recommended for infants under 10 lbs (4.5kg), and for children between 10-22 lbs (4.5kg-10kg), do not use more than 2 pads in a 24-hour period.

• Why is my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier not working after I've cleaned it?

  If your humidifier is not working after cleaning, it could be due to mineral deposits on the Heater Element or Removable Tray (which requires following cleaning instructions) or if the Water Tank was washed with detergent (which requires rinsing thoroughly with clean water). Also, failure to keep the unit clean from mineral deposits can affect efficiency and may void the warranty.

• How do I set up my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier for first-time use?
  1. Remove From Box, remove packaging material, and set aside the instruction manual.
  2. Remove the twist tie from the power cord and extend the power cord full length. Do not operate with the power cord coiled or with the twist tie in place.
  3. Ensure proper assembly: make sure the Mist Chimney and Water Tray are securely in place and the blue latch is engaged.
  4. Select a firm, level location at least 12 inches (30cm) away from any walls. Place the humidifier on a water-resistant surface. Steam should be directed away from any walls, bedding, or furniture.

• How often should I change the VapoPad in my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier?

  Your scent pad will last 8 hours. After this time, you should remove the old scent pad and discard it.

• How do I refill my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier?
  1. Remove Tank by grasping the handle and pulling up. Remove Tank Cap located on the bottom of the Tank by turning counter-clockwise.
  2. Fill Tank with cool water. Do not fill with warm or hot water.
  3. Replace Tank Cap by turning clockwise to screw back in place. Do not overtighten.
  4. Place Tank back on humidifier base.

• How do I use Vicks VapoSteam or other medicated liquids in my WarmMist Humidifier?

  You can use liquid inhalants like Vicks VapoSteam® or Kaz Inhalant in the medicine cup.

  1. Add 1 tablespoon inhalant to the medicine cup.
  2. After use, with the humidifier turned off, unplugged, and cooled for at least 20 minutes, gently wipe residue from the medicine cup.
  • Only use liquids that are recommended for this type of humidifier. Do not add liquid inhalants or any other additives to the water in the tank.

• How do I open my Vicks WarmMist Humidifier for cleaning or refilling?

  For refilling: Remove Tank by grasping the handle and pulling up. Then, remove the Tank Cap by turning it counter-clockwise.

My heating unit is scaly. Brushing it isn't helping. Can the top of it, the scaly part be replaced.
