Unfortunately the router I got from the ISP has only 4 1000 network ports (I don't think they will replace it). Currently I am using an R6250 as router, while the ISP router is only a modem. Would it be possible to connect the ISP router to the R6250 (having DD-WRT installed) with 3 lan cables and set up a load balancer in order to exploit the entire 2500 in down? Thank you. | |

The router that the ISP will release should be the HUB+ ZTE H388X. I know that people in Italy did it with 3 different network interface on the pc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tWK_11ZJzc&ab_channel=HD-Tech and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJapdNO9AMg&ab_channel=AngeloFerruggiaro), connecting pc and router with 3 cables. nope you are not rude, i didn't read that far...my mistake I was fully consumed by something else by that time, I have to apologise....I just took the first few lines of the ZTE description...and threw it out..it turned out 100-200 MBit is just an ISP offer... And yes ZTE will handle 2,5Gig/1Gig LAN than the chap could probably use the R6250 in WAP/switch mode and use it as a switch...to pull more ports out plugged to one of the ZTE switch ports, as far as the ZTE switch can handle 2.5Gig...(as they say 1 gig ports) So, if you are lucky 1 gig per ZTE port out of 2-3 ports will be able to deliver 2,5Gig speed, combined use... R6250 WAN/NAT Getaway performance is way beyond utilising such a high speed...as, its CPU is not great...it has 800 MHz, 2 cores, where is performance will top up 250-300Mbit and with some acceleration may be up to 500Mbit.... However in a WAP/switch mode https://www.wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_access_point where its NAT is down...and R6250 works in a switch mode...on its Ethernet ports, you can get close to its switch speeds(1 Giabit)......where WiFi side will be much less...
