Value for money metal detector, Ideal for the beginners or younger detectorists ...Similar to the Viking 5 Metal Detector in terms of circuitry, but scaled down in size making it more compact and therefore ideal for children. Owing to the smaller diameter search head, this detector is not quite as powerful as the Viking 5. The Viking 1 is, however, a classic well-proven Viking detector, and the new model profits from a new housing (including, for the first time, an S-type shaft) and improved display interface. (children's metal detectors: if you would like your child to "grow into" his or her detector, you may consider buying them a full sized detector from the very start - in which case you should look at the Viking 6 and upwards. For younger children, you may also like to consider our Childrens Metal Detector from Action Science).

With a shorter shaft and smaller search head than our other detectors, it is light and easy to handle and therefore a particularly suitable choice for children. It is operated by two simple controls, Fine Tuning and Coarse Tuning, in the same manner as the larger Viking 5 Metal Detector and industrial WASP models. The Viking 1 Metal Detector has earned a reputation over the years for being effective on heavily contaminated sites that can render more advanced metal detectors unusable.
